Surprising how the Flyers and Devils weren't willing to give up much for him considering he could still play. Teams these days will easily give up a 1st round pick+ at the deadline for a rental if they think a player will help them get a cup.

Lacroix: Things may have changed some now, but with us in Denver, it was always based on needs and wants to immediately win. It was not about our needs in five years. It was always, 'If we can win now, let's do it.' We always believed that the reasoning behind making any trade was meeting immediate winning goals.

Sort of what Sutter did with the Flames except he didn't get it done properly. So close, yet so far and always one or two players depth short up front. Now the Flames with Treliving living thru the same nightmare.
