Yep, that's some cheesy JRPG voice acting alright... but we all know that what's really important is that they kept the squat contest.

Delightful as a panic attack, but it’s so satisfying to bring a group back from the brink of death, or madness.

Nothing like the adrenaline of that last minute critical with all of your party teetering on the brink.

A decisive pummelling!

Yeah I dunno — I maintain that making a 30-40 hour game out of just Midgar is probably dumb.

The bigger issue is that nothing significant really happens in Midgar. You don't even meet Sephiroth at that point, just hear of him. The Turks are not that interesting an antagonist.

The big twist on disc one was well beyond Midgar. It was at the end of disc one. That should be the hook for the first game so people qctually feel compelled to play the next.

Yeah I was including that in my “it’s dumb”. Not a lot of story happens, you only barely meet half the characters, it’s very one note aesthetically... it’s a great starting area for an RPG, but not a great area for a whole game.

It looks like they're expanding on it somewhat. I'm fine with them giving the core characters some more time to develop. I don't remember how long I actually took in Midgar when I first played it, but it was definitely 10+ hours, maybe even twice that. I always thought 7's pacing, with the slow build in Midgar and massive change in stakes just before leaving the city, was one of its stronger points.

I do agree that if they do this in three equal segments, the middle chapter is going to be where most of the action is.

Ten hours would be generous — you’re likely expanding the scope of it based on memory because it was huge and grand at the time. It’s like five or six hours at best.

Here’s a longplay I found on YouTube. He’s out of Midgar at 4 hours, 10 minutes.

I was a completionist and stretched things out, as well as doing some grinding. I finished the game with the play clock maxed out, I think. But you could be right, it was 20 years ago.

Meh I don't even know if I'd place that one in the top 5 chicken-based franchise restaurant dating sims.

How is it? I’ve heard performance is pretty bad. I’m waiting until it’s on Steam anyway but I’m worried it’s not worth getting at all.

Saw a sale on GOG and downloaded Sid Meiers Pirates. Still a fantastically fun game.

Very underwhelmed with NHL20. Might just finish the 10 hour trial I have then wait for it to be added to ea access or at least a solid price drop

I'm on a pretty high end PC, There is a learning curve with the controls and it really doesn't run stupendous. Also DLC I bought is missing as well as gold keys not working. A patch is in order.
The game is fun though.

Not an official approved source, so take with a large grain of salt:
