Teams like Chicago and San Jose are teams I wouldn't call competitive. They might try hard every game but you should still be able to beat them every time you play them.

The randomness of hockey guarantees that no team should beat a team like Chicago or SJ every game.

You're not going to beat them every game but unless you're equally as bad it's a game you should look at and say there's no excuse as to why you shouldn't win.

Markstrom
24GP - .908 SV% - 2.68 GAA
Vladar
13GP - .883 SV% - 3.43 GAA
That spread between 2 goaltenders playing behind the same team is astronomical. At what point does Vladar get sent to the Wranglers and Wolf starts getting every 3rd start instead?

Vladar's last several starts have all been pretty good though - when was the last time he had a bad game?
The Chicago game was bad statistically (4G on 20S), but 2 of the 4 were own-goal deflections off his defensemen - not his fault. I thought he did his job in that game, and anyone who wants to point a finger at him for the loss should re-watch the game.
Wolf is in a similar situation - his numbers aren't great either. But he has not played poorly at all.
Judging goalies by the GAA is not dissimilar to judging skaters by their +-

Vladar has points in 62% of the games he has played in.
Markstrom is at 54%.
Vladar isn’t this team’s biggest problem. I think he fills the backup role quite well.

Without knowing the quality of the teams Vladar is getting those points against, makes it a very weak argument.
Vladar is likely still with the team because he lets in lots of goals and is already signed for next year for too much money.

But both Vladar and Wolf are exceptionally bad when looming at the amount of goals they've given up vs. the expected number they should have given up.

My point was, this team has a 3 goaltender issue and needs to find a resolution sooner than later. I'd guess that Markstrom is staying and will ride out his contract.
So the question is, who is the #2?
We've seen enough of Vladar to have a decent idea of what he is at the NHL level. The same cannot be said of Wolf.

In terms of playing behind this Flames team (this season & last), their stats are:
Vladar
40GP - .891 SV% - 3.02 GAA
Wolf
6GP - .902 SV% - 3.03 GAA
How do you decide who you'll choose to put into the #2 spot without seeing more of Wolf at the NHL level?

Markstrom also had pretty bad numbers off the start, so his recent play (since the broken finger) has been well above average.

Yes, and everyone understands this. It is just a case of waiting until one of Markstrom or Vladar gets traded (likely Vladar, but we'll see).

Never. Vladar going to the Wranglers (ie: passing through waivers unclaimed) will never happen.
Now, at what point does Wolf get called up with Vladar in the press box? That to me is a valid question, and we may see it later this year after the trade deadline if one of the goalies has not been traded.

This has been discussed on CP many times, but the expected goals against numbers do not seem to shed any more, or any better, light on the situation.

Maybe it is Vladar.
If the Ducks are really looking to trade Zegras then any deal with the Flames would probably include Wolf.
Ducks get a goalie for the future and it allows them to be more aggressive with trading Gibson.

Again though, that's my point. How does management even know 1 of Markstrom or Vladar needs to be traded without seeing more NHL starts from Wolf?
I'm just a nobody, but I'm no more confident in Wolf reaching the 1A level than I am Vladar.

He will get more starts. But there are never any certainties. Just give it some time to play out.
