If Jarmo is half as naive as us he would ask for Lindholm instead of Monahan. Is that a price we are willing to pay? I feel like other teams can offer better than Monahan + protected 1st. I hope not, but I don't think we snag him.

I'm a big booster for PLD, but I wouldn't want to give up Lindholm. I feel like he's part of the solution going forward. He and his wife love Calgary, too. (not that any of the names being discussed dislike the city)

It's funny how both Lindholm and his cousin, Jarnkrok, signed long contracts that ended up being steals. Maybe that family is just really loyal and they don't care about money.
In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Flames looked at signing Jarnkrok to a cheap contract next year (assuming Lindholm puts in a good word).

If the NHL source is true, Monahan surely has more value than Suzuki and we should be able to make it happen. Heck I'd be open to retaining 1.375 mill for the first two years.

I'd take Monahan over KK + Mete. If Columbus still wants to compete I don't think they have many options for centers.

If I was Columbus I’d trade for Laine and then flip him to someone like Philly or Carolina. I think he has more value than PLD

I'd trade Lindholm for PLD. And that is unfortunately what it might take and we may even need to add a 2nd IMO

This is the obvious move in my opinion. I don’t know why you’d trade him for anyone other than Laine (given the circumstances involved).

Under normal circumstances, yes, but I think with COVID protocols this sort of deal becomes extremely risky. It is going to be difficult enough making this one trade; I suspect nearly impossible to make two.

If the Flames pulled the trade off today Dubois would only miss 5 games. Really makes sense to try and get the deal done ASAP from a Flames perspective. Treliving needs to be tabling his top offer

I understand most of us are done with Monahan but this is a serious undervalue of him and overvalued PLD. If Treliving makes this trade you suggested then I'm more concerned about our GM than I am about our players.

Yes there is some of that thinking. But it just seems so obvious this forward group needs a shakeup that part of the grass is greener mentality is simply the recognition that change is needed for this club to progress.

The downside to trading some main pieces off the roster is minimal IMO.

IMO Lindholm is a more complete player and if anything PLD for Monahan is a lateral move. That said the Flames have needed a core shakeup for a while now so a lateral move is probably better than sticking with this core as-is.
