I think a Rittich/Talbot tandem would be pretty cheap anyway. Goaltending is the type of thing I think Treliving would make the cap room for rather than cheap out, I believe he's mentioned it as a priority

Disagree. In any event, the answers will arrive soon.

This would be absolutely amazing. Talbot coming here to become what he once was or better. Saying eff you to the Oilers on top of it? It's meant to be. He's been the one I've wanted on the Flames since it was an option. Wash off the oil stench and I'm sure we'd have a top 10 goalie.

I have no idea what the ballpark for the numbers here is as I haven't done my homework on the matter but for two not entirely proven guys sharing duties, it would be nice to get them both at 3AAV for a couple seasons.

That seems realistic to me, I don't see why both together would cost more than 6mil

Trees tight rope walking with the cap right now.

I don’t think Big Save Dave is going anywhere. He’s going to be given every opportunity to lock up the 1A spot.

Yeah... I don't.
Nice playoff round but lord, so inconsistent. I'm over the not knowing what I'm going to see from that guy on any given night. College backup or all-star? Spin the wheel.

I like it. It would be hilarious to see him play great for us. Stupid Oilers.

meh. If they go this route it better be a one year deal. I have more faith in Ritch being the starter than Talbot regaining his form. Truthfully i rather have Smith than Talbot .

I think Cam Talbot is better than he showed in Edmonton, lots of guys losing their confidence there. I doubt BT would confident enough to have an unproven Talbot, Gillies tandom. I would be okay with Rittich and Tolbot taking the reins.

If we do bring in Talbot it will be to be part of a tandem with Rittich. Both should cost less than $3m AAV each next season.
The only situation where Gillies starts the season in Calgary is if Rittich or the other half of the tandem gets injured in training camp.

Talbot will be laser focused, like Glencross was after getting similar shoddy treatment from the “smarter than anyone else” clown show management up there, in beating the Oilers game by game and overall in the season, and that should be good in everyone’s books around here.

This will be Talbots 3rd goalie graveyard. Edmonton, Philly and now CGY.

Rittich at 3x2.75m and Tabot at 2x3m. Buyout Stone. Trade Frolik for a 7th. Probably just keep Brodie if the de Haan trade is any indication of his value.
It would be nice to get actual assets for these guys but most of the teams have internal options or designs on UFAs. And there are much better players rumored to be out there available via trade. Tough time to have an overpaid depth player or two

Picking up ex-Oilers coming off a rough year is such a crap shoot. Sometimes you get Hall or Dubnyk, other times you get Hemsky or Staios. The dark cloud of suck that hangs over that franchise completely obfuscates any normal kind of evaluation process.
Talbot is a tough call because he didn't have that much to do in Philly, and obviously thing with the Oilers went very sour off-ice. He had that one really good year but is otherwise another question mark.
Out of who's available however he probably has the highest ratio of upside relative to cost. And Treliving was trying to get him even before he went to Shelbyville. It wouldn't come as a shock, and could probably go either way. You could do a lot worse, even if the risk is there of things completely blowing up.

Ugh. I pray it’s a really short term deal if true.
I would rather go for Mrazek or McElhinney.
