Province wide Critical Alert. Was just hanging out with a bunch of people and a handful of phones went off at the same time. If you don't already have the Alberta Emergency Alert app, it's available for Android, iOS, and @AB_EmergAlert on Twitter. You'll get updates through the app.

Every smartphone sold in Alberta should have this loaded and unable to be removed, IMO.

I don't think it would be against the rules. The more people that are aware of this and could possibly help a young child out, the better, imo. Hope she's ok.

The "abducted by an unknown person" thing has me more than worried.

Nothing on this planet pisses me off more than crimes against children. Please make this story have a happy ending.

It's updated in the text of the alert but not in the OP yet: CPS are no longer looking for that car. Clothing still unknown... pretty much nothing for the public to go on besides the picture.

Province wide critical alerts are rare, only a few in the last couple years. If not lifted within a couple hours, none have ended well. Hoping for the absolute best in this case.

Oh no. That's terrible. Really hope she can somehow be found safe, anyhow, anyway.

Fantastic explanation of your reasoning there.

Carriers already dump enough bloatware on Android phones that can't be removed, what's one more that could potentially save a life? Root your phone and delete the app if being a useful member of society doesn't matter to you.

I love that you are so self-centred and arrogant Acey that you are out to make an amber alert thread all about yourself.

What are you even talking about? A suggestion on how to make the emergency alert system by putting it into more hands is all about me? If you would explain your self instead of an arrogant "no" I could somehow fathom why you wouldn't think it's a good idea to spread the message as quickly as possible.

I posted the picture and news updates like I often do in these type of threads and it's somehow about me? Carry on... I'll take my updates elsewhere.

Both of you, knock it off immediately.

Please, keep this thread related directly to this Amber Alert. Thank you.

A mother is dead and her 5 year old is missing and you two are having a piss fest. Perspective fellas.

My thoughts are with the family. The death of the mother makes me think the perp may not be unknown.

Really hope they find this girl. Agree this sounds like it could be a relative.

It's almost always a relative in these cases. Though the fact that the police can't even say yet whether the kidnapper is male or female is unusual, imo.

Awful story, I hope they find the little girl safe. Horrible to think what she is going through.

I too hope she is found safe, quickly.

I can't imagine what would be going thru a 5 yrs old's head, especially if she was a witness to any of the violence that happned in the home.

Reminds me of the amber alert last year for the little girl in Blairmore who's father was murdered.

I hope everything turns out ok. If the Mom was killed that's a really bad sign though. My stomach is just in knots. Ugh.
