Default Out of Province RCMP Ticket

Hey CP,

Got a ticket in Saskatchewan driving with my Alberta licence. Pulled over by the RCMP on the highway.

Just wondering about demerits transferring over and how it would potentially affect insurance. Read some articles about Ontario and how they do share demerits but anyone have any experience with our eastern neighbours?

You didn't get ticketed by Saskatchewan police; you got ticketed by the RCMP. Safe to assume all penalties are on the table as they are Canada's National Law Enforcement Agency.

Licensing and demerits are provincial.

That said, in this case, the demerits would transfer: https://www.theglobeandmail.com/glob...ticle37037235/

It's still provincially based, but OP is out of luck since Saskatchewan and Alberta signed the Canadian Driver Licensing Compact, so demerits would impact their Alberta license.

Quite a while ago I got a ticket in Regina from the RCMP and he told me to just pay it and there was no demerits. Of course, I had to pull my driving record for life’s insurance and there were 2 demerits for “out of province ticket.” So, yes, they for sure transfer.

I too,
read the link the person above you posted. Did you also know demerits are strikes against your driving record – if you get too many, your licence will be suspended.

I ended up with a ticket in saskatchewan 4 years ago or so, I have been expecting it to show up everytime i renew my insurance or license. So far so good. I live in BC though.

Edit, Read the link and looks like im in the clear!
