I just helped my grandfather in Emonton finish this last weekend. It is truly a beautiful piece.

What are everybody's favourite sets from the last year?
Looking for one of the bigger model items (TIE Figher, Helicarrier, London Bridge, etc) and trying to see what everyone else here has been impressed with.

The TIE Fighter was a very easy, straightforward build.
The Helicarrier was fun, and had some neat techniques.
I think my favorite though, would have to be the Slave I.

For me it was The Simpsons house. The detail put into it was incredible.
(edit: was that even this year, or last? I can't remember)

Thanks.
Technically it was last year but I have been looking at that one as well.

We were just at the Legoland Florida Resort. It is a really cool place for kids. The hotel is fantastic. It has really cool rooms, is clean, lots of activities for the kids, excellent complimentary breakfast and great staff. The amusement park is pretty cool as well although it could use more rides. It seemed like the park had less rides than Calaway Park but they were slightly better quality and spread out over a much greater distance. It was a lot of walking.
The kids had a great time.

Some really awesome deals on the small sets too. Perfect to load up on for birthday parties.

Found Mobile Crane 42009 at Toys R Us, on clearance - $200, regularly $250.
Excited to work on that for 10 hours or so tomorrow.

Certainly a fun build, took a bit over 11 hours with some breaks
Been thinking about another set for a while. Maybe the MB AROCS (42043) or the Volvo wheel loader(42030), not too into the Star Wars stuff, even when the Star Destroyer would be cool.

I have that
one still in the box. I probably won't get around to building it so I could sell it to you for a good price if you're interested.
I bought it from Costco online. I suspect most people don't know they sell Lego, but they have great prices, although the selection is limited. I've bought a bunch of Technic from there.

Careful, buddy...it's addictive. Soon, any set <2500 pcs just seems 'quaint'...

Got the Doctor Who set for Christmas. Is it weird I feel scared having an Angel statue in the house? Kept thinking I would look up and it would have moved closer to me.

I think I'm about 12 hours into building, and still have the boom to go.
This is one large machine, I have no idea where I'm going to display this thing.
What an awesome set though.

This is why my wife and I have nothing angel related in the house.
My son got a couple Lego City sets, and because I was going on and on about how cool Rey's speeder was in the movie, she got me the Lego set.

It wasn't too long after I was done building that my kids were fighting over whether the Lego Friends or the Star Wars characters were going to be hanging around it.
