Parsons gets the start against the Quad Cities Mallards today.

Hunter Smith opens up the scoring in the first on a redirected pass off an opposing players skate. His game has really taken a 180 lately. Got to give him props for his hard work.

Patch Elber helps extend the lead to two with a slap shot from the Blue Line that is redirected by Jordan Kwas with less than 10 seconds to go in the first.

Shots 14-6 after the first.

Pretty quiet second period. A few penalties and scoring chances but Mavericks PK shuts the Mallards down and no score change after 40. Shots 22-18 after 2.

Mavs hold the Mallards through the third. No score change leaves the final at 2-0 for the Mavericks. Tyler Parsons earns his first career shutout tonight stopping 28 shots

Rocco Carzo likely out for the rest of the season with a lower body injury he got during the 2nd period of last Wednesday's game. He will have surgery in December.

Mavericks slide past Wichita Thunder in OT tonight. 3-2 Final

Tyler Parsons coming off a hot week, gets the start and stops 28 tonight.

Dan Correale comes fresh off an injury and score the first goal of the night.

Mike McMurtry gets the 2nd goal to pull ahead even farther in his lead in points on the team.

Shawn Pauly scores the game winning goal in overtime.

Solid hockey played by both teams. A few bad penalties taken by the Thunder but they are 23 for 23 in penalty kills on the road so the Mavericks were unable to capitalize on those chances.

Mavericks hold a 5-0 record in overtime competitions so far this season.
Shots were 37-30 in favour of Kansas City.

3rd Star Dan Correale
2nd Star Mike McMurtry
1st Star Shawn Pauly

Mason McDonald gets the start between the pipes against the Kalamazoo Wings tonight.

Slow first period for the Mavericks. A lot of time spent defending. First two shots for the Mavs were off breakaways but the Wings goalie made 2 huge saves. McDonald was solid through the first as well. Shots ended 9-8 in favour of the Wings.

Another slow start in the 2nd. Not a lot of action until the last 5 minutes where the Wings beat McDonald to open up the scoring. Finished up the period trailing 1-0 on the scoreboard and trail 17-14 on shots.

Mavs started the third with 38 seconds of a power play. Wings score just after this penalty runs out and scores again later in the period for 3 unanswered goals. Mavericks finally get a goal by Justin Breton midway through the period. A sloppy penalty kill surrenders a short handed goal for the Wings and another goal shortly after. Mavs go into the last 10 minutes with a 5-1 deficit.

Nate Widman finds the back of the net after a great set-up by Mark Cooper. Putting the Mavs back within 3.

No score changes past that for the rest of the third and the Wings earn a 5-2 victory after walking all over the Mavericks in the 3rd.

Mavericks lose their 6 game winning streak and shots end at 27-23 in favour of the Wings

Tyler Parsons get the start against the Indy Fuel

Fuel scored in the first 3 minutes of the game but Jared VanWormer quickly answers back for the Mavericks first goal. Fuel get another on the board before the end of the period and shots end at 14-8 in favour of the Fuel.

Mike McMurty catches the top corner in the 2nd and ties the game at 2. Fuel gets a short handed goal off a breakaway. Mavericks have allowed this to happen the last 3 games. 7 shorthanded goals against them on the season.

Shawn Pauly gets the 3rd goal off a juicy rebound. Jordan Kwas gets the 4th goal for the Mavericks and finally puts them on top for the first time this game.

Kayle Doetzel gets goal number 5 for the Mavericks off a one-timer set up by Mark Cooper and Patch Alber. Jared VanWormer gets his second tally of the night with less than 5 minutes to go. This goal puts the Mavs 2/3 on the power play tonight.

Mavs win 6-3 after scoring 4 unanswered goals. Shots ended at 38-33 in favour of the Mavericks

I wasn't able to closely cover this game but from what I can tell from other fans, it was a disappointing effort by the Mavericks. Penalty kill was solid but the power play units were unable to capitalize on some quality opportunities.

They are shutout at home against the Quad City Mallards tonight. Their home record falls to 2-4 after this game.

Mallards outshot the Mavericks 30-26 and this was the first win they picked up in 5 games. My guess is that the Mavericks are pretty gassed after playing for the third night in a row.

Tyler Parsons was in net for the Mavs with a final score of 2-0. Their record on the year is now 11-8

Mavericks get the win tonight after falling 3-0 in the first and scoring 4 unanswered goals in the second and third.

Mason McDonald did in fact charge across the ice at opposing goalie Joel Martin after he was ganging up on captain Tyler Elbrecht along with two other Kalamazoo Wing players.

Mavericks put up 40 penalty minutes in the first period and their opponents were not far behind with 38.

Hunter Smith had a two goal game after scoring the 1st and 3rd goal in the Mavericks 3 goals in 3 minute spurt in the second half of the second period.

Mike McMurtry scores the game winner after a late penalty kill. He gets the go ahead go with 1:47 to go and the Wings are unable to match it.

Mason McDonald had a tough start with pucks falling loose in front of the net that the Wings took advantage of. He is beat on a sharp angle shot then a five hole wrister. He found his footing after his fight and was able to stop 23. However, throughout the later parts of the game he was still letting up some pretty juicy rebounds in front of the net that the Wings luckily didn't take advantage of. He didn't seem to see the puck very well tonight.

Head Coach John-Scoot Dickson gave the referee an earful after the game as there were some calls that were lacking in the dying minutes. He is escorted off the ice by a linesman.

3rd Star: Mason McDonald
2nd Star: Mike McMurtry
1st Star: Hunter Smith

Mavericks outshoot the Wings 42-26 in this matchup
Parsons expected to start tomorrow against the Wichita Thunder

Tyler Parsons get the start against the Quad City Mallards tonight. He went into this game first in the ECHL in saves with 439.

First period started quite similarly to last night and the Mallards get on the board after Dan Correale goes off on a hooking call. This goal came 7 seconds into the penalty. The second goal was also on a Dan Correale hooking penalty, quickly putting the Mavericks down 2-0. Parsons visibly was tightening up his positioning towards the end of the period but didn't seem to lose confidence.

Period 2 starts with a quick goal 31 seconds in. It'll be the Mallards first even strength goal of the night. A one-timer sails past Parsons glove side. After goal number 3 the Mavericks try to pick it up and earn a lot more zone time and still can't connect. Including Dan Correale flipping a point blank shot much like Marner did on Smith in the Leafs vs. Flames game last week.

Just over 5 minutes into the third and the Mavericks are finally able to get on the board. Mike McMurtry rips one past the Mallards netminder. Mavericks outshoot the Mallards 27-19 at this point. Mark Cooper gets the 2nd goal for the Mavericks off a one-timer set up by Mike McMurtry. Justin Breton ties it after chipping at a rolling puck deep in the zone. Eric Freschi comes back from an injury but a sloppy turnover ends up finding the back of the net in a wraparound goal.

With just over a minute to go Mallards find the empty net and end the game 5-3. Shots finish at 34-27 for the Mavericks

Mavericks fall 3-1 in Wichita Tonight.

They started off the game better than they have been and Dan Correale was able to put the Mavs on the board just over a minute into the game. Hunter Smith got the assist as Correale was able to bury his rebound. They went into the 2nd with the lead but the Thunder changed that just 39 seconds in.

Mavs were able to obtain a lot of zone pressure through the 2nd but unfortunately were not rewarded for it. A lot of back and forth hockey as these teams have played each other 6 times this season already and have gotten the hang of each others playing styles.

Josh Erickson had a pretty good debut night with the exception of a turnover that resulted in the go ahead goal for the Thunder in the 3rd.

The Thunder's third tally came from a partial breakaway that beat Tyler Parsons on the rush. Up until the third, Parsons was having a very good game. A lot of great stops and he was very quick to react to some tough rebounds. Unfortunately, the defence didn't help him too much tonight and gave up a lot of odd man rushes and breakaways. Parsons can only do so much when it comes to that point.

The Mavericks seemed to have a quality opportunity to get some momentum back late in the third with a powerplay. They had 3 quick shots on goal in the first 30 seconds of their PP but were unable to find the back of the net.

They outshot Wichita 30-26 and only took one penalty all night.
