I am really happy for him. He made some good money in the NHL and now he gets play hockey in Europe and take in what I am sure will be an awesome experience. Not that making NHL money isn't awesome too, but life is about the experiences and I am sure this will be a great life experience for him.
I am curious though, any idea how much a player like Stajan makes there? My wife's stepbrother played in Germany and Italy for years and he was making I think around $60k then, but that was years ago. But he also said that he was given a car and apartment and also was able to eat at restaurants for free a lot. Most of his expenses were taken care of either by the team or sponsors.

Do not remember where i saw this but reportedly top players in the league made around 100k. I believe Stajan is going there for the love for the game, guys made tons of money and wont likely get any substantial cash over there considering what he has already made in his lifetime.

I hope we keep bumping this thread.
Rock on Stajan! I'd take Matt Stajan over Dion Phaneuf any day.

When in Rome, do as the Romans. When in Munich, wear lederhosen and drink giant beers.

We love you Staj. now that you are no longer a flame. We Love you.
The flames don't need a bunch of character in the dressing room, they need ruthless #######s with ego's that want to win. and maybe a nice guy here and there.

No no, you can do that anywhere, but in Munich, you must do it.

Fair enough. I eagerly await the Stajan family's invitation.

I assume that's his wife in the picture. At first glance I thought it was Eugenie Bouchard.

Its a bit of a fuzzy memory though. I had 8 of those in one day. It was too many.
