I grew up there and have a favourite memory of attending the Judas Priest concert in 84. Great White was the opening band and their singer Jack Russell (yep that’s his name, a metal singer named after a dog) stepped to the mic and in his raspy smoke filled voice says:
“Reginaaaaaa…..that rhymes with….vaginaaaaa”
All us 14 year olds cheered loudly like we were proud of it…perhaps Tim Reid was at that concert…
It’s been a running gag likely forever. The old city logo was of the skyline, that once you looked at the twin towers a certain way, it was a somewhat suggestive pose in keeping with the rhyme. The new slogan was just leaning into that now that the logo has changed?
They should just go all out and embrace the original Cree name and change the city name to Oskana.
