If Kylington is back, the Flames should explore trading Hanifin this summer. Last year of his deal and would free up some cap space. Plus he would be a good trade target for a lot of teams. I like Hanifin, but he is likely wanting a long term deal at an increased cap hit. Not sure the Flames can afford him.

Not sure we’d have a full replacement for Hanifin. I guess with Stecher added we might be alright with Kylington back. Or find a cheaper F.A.

If you have to lose one or more of the 4 pending UFA D-men (Hanifin, Kylington, Tanev or Zadorov) Matt Dumba might be an interesting replacement. His salary should come in less than his current deal, maybe in the Tanev range. They have no D-men pressing from the farm

I think Dumba might be too expensive. I think Scott Mayfield is the perfect Sutter defenseman. I have also been advocating Gustafsson for several seasons as a PP specialist.

Hanifin- same as Lindholm. If he wants more than 8 then I would look to trade him but would be okay at a 7x7 type deal

Zadorov - trade, sign, walk to free agency are all options I would consider.

Only way to fix this mess is to get rid of the older guys that aren't under contract, Lindholm(29) at 8.5 long term would be a massive mistake, Backlund(35) better be a huge discount and 3 years max, Hanifin is young enough to keep but he's not a 7m Dman, 5.5 or trade him.

Truth is this team needs an enema, it needs skill and speed and more than anything a real star player to build around.

I wouldn’t expect Vladar to be around long. The Flames will unload him to make room for Wolf. Won’t save them much, but I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t happen.

I think we can absolutely recoup what we paid for Vladar.
