Alberta taking another step towards treating Covid as endemic. Testing centres are closing and initial screening removed from AHS facilities.

Get a better job where you don't need a positive covid test to take a sick day, nerd.

Which companies make you get a doctor’s note for a few sick days? It’s 2023.

It's endemic, and excess deaths are still on the rise.

I could go on a rant here but I won’t. Basically lots of them, count your blessings if you don’t work for one of them

The excess death data does not suggest that.

This is so wrong and completely disconnected from research findings.

Frankly, this whole subforum could be deleted and would not be missed.

The study cited even comments that the data is biased towards older people as about 80% of the flu and COVID patients were over 65.

What do you mean "it is fair to say"? Based on what? Compare some data and come back with that. I have no idea if, for younger people, covid is less an issue than the flu, but I have a suspicion it is not. So go ahead, present some facts.

https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/nvss/vsrr/c...ess_deaths.htm

When you select the option "Weekly Number of Deaths by Age" and filter for 2022 and 2023, review the trend lines for under 65, and particularly after about April 2022.

Can you summarize your conclusion from this data and how it supports the notion that Covid is less dangerous than the flu for those under 65

Thing is, lots of people I know who got the 'flu' the last 6 months got the worst 'flu' of their life.

So is it worse / not as bad as COVID? Well, tough to say.

But the excess deaths are concerning, and I think for people at risk they ought to be careful.

Like GGG asks, I don't really see how this defends your statement. Care to explain with numbers? Or is there a chart you generated you could post that shows what you suggest?

Kudos to the people swatting down the misinformation, but this seems to exclusively serve the idiots who are still obsessed with how wronged they felt during the pandemic and are desperately looking for something to justify themselves.

Like the dummies still protesting every Thursday in Inglewood. Just sad and pathetic.

This is a little different. Ikaris claim was specifically about risk of death and snuffs didn’t provide an age limit so the consequences of Covid are worse.

I think your statement here is more along the lines of among people not hospitalized with flu or Covid anecdotally the flu was worse. I think that’s more because people comparing a bad flu to mild Covid is not really accurate because we were testing sniffles for Covid but not testing sniffles for flu so the people who report having the worst flu and it was worse than Covid self select because the people who mild flu weren’t aware they had it.
