Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Rieder - Backlund - Tkachuk
Bennett - Ryan - Smith-Pelly
Lucic - Dubé - Mangiapane

Czarnik and Jankowski could lose their spot in the line-up.

To be fair you can also snipe the exact center of the net on Smith.

I'd be pretty surprised if Jankowski, who just scored 14 goals and 32 points in 79 games, was passed by two PTOs who just scored 4 goals and 19 points combined over 121 total games

Reider would more likely be slotted on a third line.

Czarnik could find himself placed on waivers. A lot of teams were reportedly interested in him when he a free agent, perhaps one will take him.

Sounds like Peters really, really wants to see if Lindholm can be a full time center. If he does.......really shakes the lineup around.

I'm really curious how this current group of FWs allow Lindholm to go to Center. I just dont see anyone capable of replacing him on the top line as it stands.

Perhaps the RFA log jam shakes loose and we finally see the finishing touches. IMO, we really need a decent enough right shot winger to come in and allow Peter's to move Lindholm to C and maybe anchor Tkachuk.

Just honestly dont see a viable solution yet.

Breaking up the 3rd best line in the league just doesnt seem like a good move at this point in time.

My idea

Gaudreau - Monahan - Bennett
Tkachuk - Lindholm - Mangiapane
Jankowski - Backlund - Dube
Lucic - Ryan - Rieder
Smith-Pelly/Quine

Agree with all of that. Just heard Peters mention it again (today or yesterday) so you know he wants to at least give it a shot. Really have no idea how to make everything fit if it sticks.

Fantastic troll job on the Oilers, and the guy has nowhere to go but up. Caught the Edmonton flu worst than most, but the railroad job Nicholson gave him and blamed him, to divert fan attention from the more terminal problems of the organization, is prototypical Oilers. Reider would be able to play pk if Frolik got shipped.

DSP is a bit of an enigma given his pledge to the Caps and no one else, after the SC, and they didn't really want him, sent to the farm, but back in the playoffs last year.

Rinoldo is a warm body at camp that can stir up some havoc.
Don't know enough about the French chap.

But agreed with above. It's going to push the bubble guys and even the likes of Jankowski and dare I say Bennett...not necessarily for a job but to show how hungry you have to be, or else.

Smith-pelley one
Ronaldo #2 believe it or not. Sometimes you need a complete jerk, makes Bennett and tkachuk able to play their game
Raider but only if he lights it up

I figured that there might be interest in Devante Smith-Pelletier after Hathaway left for Washington. If he can keep up skating wise I could see him earning a contract. The other guys I would guess are just training camp bodies other than maybe Andrew MacDonald getting a temp spot while Valimaki recovers. It is interesting how PTOs usually have some prior connection to coaches, management, or players. Here’s what I could dig up:

Devante Smith-Pelley-RW
-played for Geoff Ward in NJD, Ryan Huska in WJC, allegedly friends with Monahan

Tobias Rieder - LW/RW
-drafted by Arizona (Maloney/Treliving), played for Geoff Ward (WC Germany), played for Ray Edwards (AHL Portland, Arizona affiliate), played with Talbot/Lucic in Edmonton, played with Zac Rinaldo in Arizona

Zac Rinaldo - LW
-played with TJ Brodie in Barrie (OHL)

Alexandre Grenier - RW
-played with Rob Hamilton (Stockton player) in AHL Springfield, Byron Froese (Stockton player) in AHL Laval

Andrew MacDonald - D
-paired with Hamonic in NYI

Smith-Pelly checks off a lot of boxes.

Still has decent wheels for an uptempo Peters game.
He can pop in the odd one.
Bit of Snarl to his game (something the Flames could use).
Comes cheap.
Stanley Cup experience. Guy was a playoff monster.
Good in the room.

I'm all-in on Devante Smith-Pelley.

I love it. Will be great competition for spots. Smith Pelly could bring value. More guys vying than in years past means the guys that make it will have to be that much better. Less likely we see a Grossman situation where a vet only has to outclass a few kids.

Yep I see that too; he’s like the perfect replacement for Hathaway IMO. He’ll be good for 100+ hits, has low PIM’s for a heavy game, is capable to play 10 + mins, has a history of being clutch and brings some winning pedigree like Lucic.

Definitely an intriguing PTO and the one I’m hoping for the most!

Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Backlund - Bennett
Lucic - Ryan - Mangiapane
Dube - Jankowski - DSP
Czarnik, Quine

Trading Frolik still seems like a necessity at this point but that forward group has significant upgrades to size while still remaining highly skilled. Can’t wait for October!

I must be one of the few who thinks Reider is vanilla at best-fast, pretty good PK player, but smallish and butter soft with no offense....

It's always fun to remember that Rieder has played more NHL games and scored more NHL goals and points than any other player drafted by the Oilers outside the first round in over a decade.

Well he is. It's just that he's a hero on CP mainly because of his history with the Oilers and scoring those two SH goals in hilarious fashion.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but Treliving suggests there are more to come. Of course this video would have been recorded prior to these 4 PTO announcements, but he specifically mentions some things on the blueline to announce as well.

https://youtu.be/x0nQa2ArRTw?t=475

Phaneuf, Methot, Girardi, Hutton, McQuaid, Schlemko are the names from a quick glance that might fit the bill for PTO candidates.
