What about cutting a hole in the wood door and installing a slightly smaller door in the hole?

Sorry y'all. Some of you posted the right answer - we cut a hole in the door, and removed the cylinder in pieces in order to open the door. The locking mechanism was busted and luckily everything was pretty old and easy to bust up.
