That was a win but probably the worst win I have ever seen. Just not firing on all cylinders.

Lindholm looks pretty good though. Not elite but a lot grittier than I thought he would be.

The early penalties hurt the flow of the game, lots of iffy penalties.

The 12 shots wasn't a typo? Wow good luck Canucks. Think this series could go 7.

A very weird game. Watched it live…very few scoring chances.

Usually , that dictates a boring game.

It was!

How many 5 on 5 shots did the Canucks get? It seemed like it was 5.

Both these are going to get smoked by the Oilers. Sad.

I think 7 was the final total.

I have to assume it's intentional. Tocchet seems to have a thing where he wants guys to not throw the puck at the net, on the theory that it'll come back the other way sooner - basically passing up shooting looks for o zone time. But at some point you have to put a puck at the goalie's feet and see what happens, no?

It's true. With Demko injured and the Knights successfully activating cheat mode, 4 of the 5 best Western teams appear to be battling it out in the Central. Oilers have the easiest possible path the the WCF. only they could screw it up

At least Vancouver has a good PP for when they meet Edmonton. We know the whistles will come out in any Oilers series.
I still think they match up well vs the Oilers; De Smith would just need to be the best goalie in the series, which he can be.

They finished 26th with 28 shots on net.

They are averaging 17 a game with declining totals every game.

It’s pretty weird especially with 7 shots on net 5 on 5. That has to be a record.

Not only that they had 25 attempts on net lol.

Only taking quality shot opportunities is very much so part of Tocchet's strategy. I think last night was taking it to an unbelievable extreme combined with Nashville just being the better team. I don't think it's a sustainable strategy against any team.

That strategy is a confidence-killer and leads to players becoming more tentative in their play. See also Darryl Sutter.

Yep, players start squeezing their sticks and getting nervous about making every shot on net count, when the rare opportunities due to come up to get a quality shot on net.

Not to mention, how many playoff goals are random, innocent looking plays where a player just tosses the puck towards the net with traffic? Under Tocchet's strategy you're basically eliminating those kinds of goals from your repertoire. You simply can't do that.
