Whatcha Know About Nazi Memorabilia?
A friend was cleaning out the basement of a deceased family member and came across this bracelet. We're both curious as to it's history/value but haven't the slightest clue on where to look. I offered to enlist the help of the CP brain trust.
Anyone have an idea where to start or who to ask?
Tagged for large images, and cause there's a swastika.

Looks like Hitler's medic alert bracelet. Nice find.

Like all Nazi memorabilia, it would only have value to someone who believes in the ideology. It's garbage with a swastika on it.

I don't believe its anything, it looks home made to me, its not engraved, it doesn't have the trademark silver hallmarks.
Its possible that it didn't even come from WW2.
best bet is to take it to a place like the military museum or the glenbow and let them look at it.
There is a fairly significant market for Nazi memorabilia.

Yeah I don't think that will be worth much if anything. I don't think there's a big market for a random steel chain with a swastika on it... unless you have a Hitler Youth dagger that it was hooked strung through.

That isn't true at all.
As other have mentioned, any of the army surplus/memorabilia stores are a good start. There is a market for stuff like this but there is so much counterfeit, post war garbage that it might not be of value if its origin is unknown.

Isn't it technically illegal to own nazi items in Canada? Or is that a certain States only thing?

Thanks for the tips!
I think because it's obviously something scotch taped onto a bracelet that it's not worth much, nor does it have any historical value, but it is indeed old, and I would love to help see if there's any story behind it.

A vast majority of nazi memorabilia that people find are trinkets/fakes made in post-war West and East Germany and sold as war memorabilia to scam more money out of tourists or for export. I remember finding Nazi medals and cutlery at garage sales and stuff when I was a kid. My immigrant parents didn't know any better and bought them for me. I found out what a huge industry was out there for fakes later on.

A of cheap, fake WWII trinkets of this sort were advertised at the back of comic books in the sixties and seventies. My little brother (he might have been eight or so) once sent away for some of it and was severely reprimanded when caught by my parents.

Not really true, some people just collect war items. On the other hand, the entire thought disgusts me. I have family members that have some nazi items, like knives and assorted odds and ends, they certainly don't have them hanging on the walls.
I have told a few shops, even here in Calgary, that I don't approve of their selling of the items, and won't shop there.
I still think the OPs find is kind of neat.

I have a small piece of the Zeppelin Field grandstand concrete that I picked up when I was there. I brought a piece home for a friend also and he thinks it's cool, too. It's history.

It is unfortunate, but this is not even remotely close to true. Nazi materials are very valuable. Sad but true.
Also sad but true is the fact that this appears to be inauthentic.
