Default Shooting at mosque in Quebec City; several dead

Quote:
Quebec City Police say several people are dead after shots were fired at a Quebec City mosque.

Multiple people are also feared wounded, according to CBC's French-language service Radio-Canada.

Their condition is not known at this time.

A number of ambulances are parked outside of the Islamic cultural centre of Quebec in the Sainte-Foy neighbourhood.

Two suspects have been arrested.

A large perimeter has been set up around the mosque.

This June, during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, a pig's head was left on the doorstep of the mosque.

Terrible thing to read about and when you start reading stories about mass shootings you wonder what State it was in. This time it was in Canada.

What a horrible event, and my heart goes out to the victims families.

I would expect that we're not going to hear much about the shooters who were caught, but an eye witness report in the story was ominous

Quote:
witness, who asked to remain anonymous, told CBC's French-language service Radio-Canada that two masked individuals entered the mosque. "It seemed to me that they had a Quebecois accent. They started to fire, and as they shot they yelled, 'Allahu akbar!' The bullets hit people that were praying. People who were praying lost their lives. A bullet passed right over my head," said the witness.
I'm hoping its not homegrown radicals.

Director of the mosque says there was 60-100 people inside at the time, it's fortunate the number of dead was not much higher.

Just awful. I wonder why they picked a Sunday night where the mosque is least busy. Is there security on Friday maybe?

I will refuse to look at the world any differently. Just two or three awful human beings and hopefully the response to this incident is swift and brings unity. I truly will never understand how someone can kill people because of their faith. Boggles my mind.

Those rednecks probably didn't even know that Friday was the busy day at a mosque. Probably just assumed Sunday.

Domestic violence or angry uncle would make this seem less like an increasing violence
