I seem to vaguely recall when he re-signed in Calgary after being in Montreal, it was mentioned by someone that he has some extended family in Calgary, like siblings or cousins on his wife's side, or something like that.

Well however he gets back here, Tanguay is one of my all time favourite Flames (along with the guy in my avatar.) So I'm stoked for this.

I have to say, my optimism towards the Flames’ future has shifted significantly since Conny became GM and now seeing Sec214’s hints towards who’s gonna be apart of the new coaching staff. It really felt like the team was headed into a dark place that would be incredibly hard to pull out of to now having a more positive outlook on the future. There’s obviously still work to be done with the 7 UFA’s and such, but the Flames are definitely in a better place now than where they were when the season ended

I just hope fans can be patient. I think a new HC deserves a full season to work things out and you shouldn't expect instant success. It can happen, but I don't feel like it is a fair expectation.

If there's going to be emphasis placed on people who have been here/want to be part of the community, then Conroy's next step after hiring the coaching staff - get Makar here. ASAP.

The head coach should not be looked at as a guy who is going to bring this current roster to crazy heights.
The roster doesn’t have what it takes. It’s about building it on the ice and on the bench.

I can say that I really appreciate the inside information you bring to the group and thank you for that.
So who is the 4th that you are hearing? Any hints?

I believe its a coaching staff senior advisor. Could be Travis Green, Bruce Boudreau, Gerard Gallant, Alain Vigneault... but I am just spitballing names that have been tossed around during the HC search that have NHL coaching experience...The role would be similar to what Darryl was doing prior to joining the Flames. I believe Frank Seravalli said something similar today but I did hear it around Gallant a few days ago prior to FS on the BB show.

That's really interesting.
How would that work with Gallant I wonder...it's technically not a head coaching job so how would that impact the remaining money that New York owes him

This is to me, the exact opposite of what the Oilers did.

Same thing with Tanguay. He's not just a random ex player going right to an NHL job here, he's been an assistant coach for 4 years already...2 years in the AHL, and then 2 in the NHL.

Why are people excited about Huska?
If he was in charge of the power play he should be dismissed. That might have been Muller?

Muller was. I'd imagine that role goes to Tanguay now.

Huska was the defence, and Muller was the offense. So I'd assume it was Muller and Sutter running the PP.

Huska is a Defensemen Wisperer.
He gets alot of credit for his work done with Zadorov, Gudbrandson, Stecher and previously a strong impact on Rasmus and Oliver Kylington... He's just not got the juice in his body to be a HC.

Huska also works on the PK I believe which has been steady with this 10 head coaches he has been with.
