Totally their prerogative to do so, but seems a bit odd to postpone the release of a pre-produced video for a global audience due to a natural disaster in another city way on the other side of the country from where Nintendo is. I guess it’s a respect thing?

ND Cube (developers of the new Mario Party game) is located in Sapporo, the region where the earthquake hit.
Considering it’s likely that Mario Party was prominent in this direct that could be a big reason for the delay.
Also the fact it’s pre-produced makes it much easier to delay than say a live show would have been, moving it to Monday or Tuesday is pretty non-impactful in the big scheme of things but shows some respect to a country that’s been hit pretty hard this week between the Earthquake and Typhoon (90s WWF reference was unintentional).

But, it's also pragmatic when a good chunk of the region has no power. They're a Japanese company that can't reach that part of Japan right now. That will blunt the ability to promote their games in their home market.
And, it doesn't really matter. All the third party games that were likely in the direct are getting announced anyway:
-Port of FFXV Pocket Edition (and, bizarrely made available on PS4 and XB1)
-Port of Civilization VI
-Mega Man 11 demo releaed
-Ubisoft is porting an old Wii title in Sports Party
-The next Yoshi game has a title: "Yoshi's Crafted World", which I hope sounds better in Japanese
-Lego Harry Potter is probable
Also, Capcom has some sort of Ace Attorney event scheduled for Tokyo Games Show.
Just saw on Facebook that the online service launches on Tuesday, September 18th, with a 7-day free trial. More info coming in the Direct on Thursday. I think that the launch date was already assumed (known?), but now it is official. Hoping for a few more classic games to be named I guess, but I can't see there being too many surprises with the online stuff.
tl;dr of today's direct: Yoshi, Animal Crossing, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy.
Oh, and Game Freak finally tried its hand at a new IP.
I'm going to have to look into why people are excited about Katamari Damacy. It didn't look all that special to me at first blush.
And interestingly, of that pile of Final Fantasy reveals, the only ones that were announced last week were the ones new to PS4. Microsoft is still being bros by delaying announcement of all those games on their console until Nintendo was ready.
so two people came back at a question asking why a game was good, I assume Resolute has never played it and both come back with nothing to back it besides its good. Why is it good?

Actually, I was just responding with the literal title of its sequel.
Katamari Damacy is fun because it is absolutely ridiculous from every angle - beyond-strange yet overwhelmingly catchy music, wacky colours and acid trip visual, and simply absurd gameplay. A game where you start rolling up pennies, lunch snacks and ants and soon afterwards you're rolling up trees, buildings, and giraffes. And why are you even rolling? No one knows but you can't stop (except when time runs out). If there were a game about psychedelics... it's this one... Katamari is watching Dr. Strange while doing shrooms. And it had a co op mode for added insanity, though I don't remember if that was just the sequels
