I continue to buy physical media.netflix just doesnt fullfill my movie viewing needs especially since subtitles are never consistent.Netflix is okay if you are to lazy to get up and throw a disk in.my biggest pet peeve other than the lack of subtitles is that some trilogys arent complete for example mission impossible you can watch 1,3,4,5 but fpr some reason not two.

It's best to start thinking as MI as a trilogy. 1, 4 and 5. You will be much happier. 3 is the Battle for Endor, and 2 is the Christmas Special.

I agree, 2 is terrible. But there are things about 3 that I really liked. The infiltration of the Vatican sequence is pretty great, and Philip Seymour Hoffman was one of the better villains of the series.

But yea, 4 and 5 are far superior films overall.

What was wrong with MI3? I thought it was great and saved the franchise.

This isn't Netflix of course I have Halloween, in fact I have the whole franchise.
I love slasher films especially Halloween, Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th. I actually really like Halloween 3 I think it's underrated and people crap on it because it didn't have Mike Myers but was an interesting concept and makes for a great movie to watch on Halloween.

Spoiler!

I own the entire Halloween series as well, but the only ones I ever watch are 1, 2, and 4. H2O is worth watching at least once, just for the fact that they brought back Jamie Lee Curtis and it wraps up the Laurie Strode story.

The Rob Zombie version was well done, but still can't touch the original.

I've only ever watched part 3 maybe once or twice, and that was back in the 80s. Perhaps I should give it another chance and re-visit it one of these days.

I loved 3 when I saw it as a kid. I'm not sure if it would hold up if I watched it today, but I agree if it was released with a different name it would get more respect.

The commercial jingle was really catchy.

I have a few reccomendations for your collection. You'll have to order the DVD for the first one.

Burnt Offerings

Duel - Steven Spielberg' first movie. A made for TV one.

Full length movie can be seen here

I have a Spielberg bluray box set that includes Duel, and it's pretty damn great for his first feature. Apparently it was made for TV, but you wouldn't know it. It's that good.

Fun bit of Trivia: At the ending of Jaws right after they kill the Shark, they use the same sound effects of the Truck going over the cliff at the end of Duel.

Thanks Dion! I'm always on the lookout for rare or hidden gems I really appreciate it! Spielberg is a master but to be honest I don't have a lot of his films, I think I just missed the boat growing up to really appreciate his work but now that I'm older I really want to watch more of his stuff! I have Jaws, All Indy movies, Jurassic Park 1 & 2, Saving Private Ryan, War of the Worlds, Schindler's List, Minority Report, and War Horse. Besides Duel anymore of his work you would suggest?

I highly recommend the following:

E.T. -the most obvious one missing from your list, and an absolute must own for anyone's collection. This sequence in particular still gets my heart racing. That John Williams score! So freakin' good.

Also these:

Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Munich
Empire of the Sun
Amistad
The Color Purple
Catch Me If You Can
Lincoln
