Default Which Players will benefit most from the coaching change?

Now that it is done, how about a thread to discuss who we may see benefit from the coaching change?

We had several players who do not look themselves this year but a few of these players had what could be described as career years last year under Peters.

I think that Frolik will be a different player now that he's not in the doghouse and I am hoping to see a more settled version of Giordano.

Thoughts?

I'm really curious as to whether Johnny comes out of his funk here. That would be pretty telling.

I'm not really sure we'll see a big change with Ward. I mean, Ward has been in the room and part of the conversation the whole time as associate coach. I highly doubt that Peters just created the system on his own and forced it on everybody.

I think I'd like to see a new boss come in, hopefully just to mix the culture and vibe up a bit.

i'd think that you hope the geenral mood around the team changes, and everyone gets going.

but certainly i'd think you want to see the most improvement from the guys on the first unit

and lucic, i expect him to pot 20 goals by end of season

Pretty well any of them that didn't get along with Peters is my guess.

20 goals per game.... if you count pre-game warmup.

Jankowski can certainly impact the game way more than he has this season.

Frolik has been a frequent resident in the dog house and looked like he still had a lot of game left as recently as the last world championships.

Czarnik didn't seem to have a very long leash under Peters.

Bennett was much more effective under Hartley. It seems like a bit of a longshot, but he's a guy that could help turn around the season if he plays well upon his return.

I guess none of this may matter all that much if Ward was making most of the decisions with the forwards already.

[MOD EDIT] Inappropriate.

ok, but it absolutely wasn't inappropriate and was the best answer.

Sam Bennett.

Geoff Ward will try a line of Mangiapane - Bennett - Tkachuk, and it will work - gloriously. Ward will win the Jack Adams Trophy. The Flames will win the Stanley Cup.

Michael Frolik, because he'll be deployed with Backlund on a shutdown line, and with no offensive production expectations, Frolik will garner new appreciation from the fan base for being defensively sound.

Is Geoff Ward going to change things up and play a different system or is he going to keep thing the same is the real question. I get it that he wanted to keep things as normal as possible until Bill Peter's was officially let go. Guess we"ll have to wait and see.

This would be a deadly line but they'd need some time together to figure out spacing as all three guys like to go into the corners.

Ward is coaching for a possible permanent job so given what Peters was doing wasn't working this season I would imagine he will tweak some things.

Will be interesting to see what he does that Peters seemed reluctant to do - like using Elias at centre.

Maybe. Given Backlund is playing his way into a 3rd line role this may be the most opportune time to give Lindholm a chance at centering his own line. He and Tkachuk seem to have some chemistry and right now this is a 0 line team with Monahan and Gaudreau ice cold.

I really hope that Tkachuk-Lindholm and Johnny-Monahan pairings can take flight and our current crop of wingers can find some chemistry with them.

Backlund is no longer a 2C which is very unfortunate.
