#Flames GM Brad Treliving tells #TSN that no determination has been made on Bill Peters' job status at the moment. Peters is not on the ice for practice.
Treliving better not bobble this or it's his ass as well.

Honestly, I don't think there is any bright side to this whole sad affair. I think that this is already bigger than just the Calgary Flames (and a disappointing season so far). I think this is likely just the beginning of a long, painful process in which the institutions of hockey in this country (and elsewhere) are forced to take a long, cold look at themselves.

EDIT: I managed to totally contradict myself because that process of self-reflection for hockey institutions may well be the bright side in all of this.

Don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out. Probably have a few volunteers holding it open for maximum exit-ability.

Here's the excuse the players need to get away with a "crappy season"

I'm guessing Ward runs the show for the rest of the year with Huska and Gelinas helping out. I don't think they'll bring in a full time coach until next year. Guess we'll see.

Might as well just stick to the devil you know at this point. The season was pretty much on life support before all this transpired anyway.

Good job Brad, drag it out as that always helps lots in cases like this.

If I wanted to distract from having to fire my headcoach for being a racist, the way I would do that in the Calgary market is pay Darryl Sutter whatever it is that he wanted to come here and coach, even just for 6 months.

Possible that a determination has been made but they haven't communicated it to Peters yet (and understandably would want him to hear it first, rather than through the media).

Darren Dreger @DarrenDreger
Treliving says there’s an ongoing investigation into the allegations. He will address media in Buffalo shortly.

Frank Seravalli @frank_seravalli
Expect Treliving to address the media shortly in BUF and say that #Flames investigation with Peters remains ongoing.

I'm going to guess this issue is with the Flames legal team, not being held up by Tre.

money is irrelevant.

the cost of paying out peters in full will pale in comparison to the cost of a PR nightmare.

It will be interesting to see if any current Flames players speak out about an incident.

There's no way there wasn't a problem in the locker room the past 9 months. The fact that this revelation came out is very timely for the Flames honestly, but I don't think this will be the last incident we hear about from Peters, or Babcock, or other prominent coaches. It took 10 years for someone to come out against Graham James for instance who was well regarded at the time.

Racist people have no business coaching.
