I was once told that the reason we still use DST was because little children shouldn't be going to school in the dark.

I'm inclined to agree with that. Having little kids walking to school and waiting for the bus when it's still dark out is an increased risk to their safety. If we lose an hour in the afternoon for the safety of the kids in all for it.

If personally would prefer the hour in the evening.

Makes me wonder if starting school and hour later would be worth it and appease everyone?

The map is incorrect. Part of western North Dakota is on Mountain Time, as is part of Texas.

Reintroducing health care premiums would be a great way to drive urban voters to the Wild Rose. It would be political suicide.

And Eastern BC is on Mountain.

Best thing George W ever did was increase the amount of months we're on summer time. I hate going home in the dark during the winter.

The way it is > permanent DST on >>>>>>>>>> permanent DST off.

In June, it's MUCH better to have sun between 9 and 10 pm, rather than between 4:15 and 5:15 am.

I like the way it is better than having permanent DST because I don't want sunrise at this time of year to be at 9:30 am.

Really, something like this needs to be adopted. Begone, all of this DST and 5+ timezone nonsense.

Fort McMurray, Grand Prairie, and even Edmonton will be somewhat screwed if this goes through. Sounds like people are thinking only of the inconvenience of physically changing the clocks as opposed to what it actually does to shift the time of sunrise and sunset.

Drive from work with the blinding sunset in your eyes. A month later when you think it's over, adjust your clock an hour and get another month of it.

Only if you live on the west side of work.

My kid doesn't adhere to the laws of DST - thus I support getting rid of it so I can get an hour back of sleep.

All of your electronics will actually enjoy not being moved ahead/behind. Nice troll.

I'd rather have it light at 11 PM than at 3 AM in June.

Glad this was decided. Not sure when or if it will be in the legislature though.

That makes no sense because right now is standard time, and it's the darkest at this point.

Personally daylight savings time doesn't serve much of a purpose in our world anymore, so it should be abolished, but most likely wouldn't be due to the amount of work and coordination needed to be done, for very little gain, if any. US still uses imperial for example.

I just don't want this to go through because that means a lot of the flames games will start at 9:30 since we just switched divisions. No thanks.
