Agreed, the two minutes it takes me switch my clocks back and forth twice a year is literally the worst 4 minutes of every year. Just thinking about the pain of switching clocks and what I could do with an extra 4 minutes a year, makes my blood boil. About damn time!!!!

Same article also says Conservatives to reintroduce health care premiums. Ugh. I was hoping that wasn't going to happen, but it is.

Well that is stupid.
It's going to cut into the amount of 18 hole rounds I can play after work.

I hope they just stay on DST all year like Saskatchewan. I hate trading the extra hour of daylight when you get off work for an hour of daylight at 7 am, useless for 95% of us, give me driving to work in the dark every time over coming home in the pitch black.

You don't have kids. I'll be thrilled when we finally get rid of this.

Ok, while I am not really bothered by this, which of the 2 times are we going to stick with? It is awesome when it light out till 1030pm in june- and it is great as a golfer to be able to stay out that late.
Who cares if it is bright out early in the morning? No one up at that time anyway.

If we do make this change (the resolution was non-binding, so it may or may not happen), I do hope we go with Daylight savings hours as most get more benefit from the extra hour of daylight in the evening (especially for us golfers).

As much as I want this to happen, it's going to make every single time change annoying with electronic devices. Guess we'll have to choose Arizona instead of Mountain Time.

4th paragraph from the end, and very easy to miss.

Party members at the weekend convention also passed non-binding resolutions that call for Alberta to re-introduce health care premiums, and for the government to repeal Daylight Savings Time.

I prefer having DST. Additionally it'll be annoying as heck for those of us that work across the country having to do the "oh, wait,.... you're only one hour ahead of us now". Granted a lot of my work is Toronto based, so those 6-months a year that I'm closer to EST is better for that reason. Flights to Vancouver might not take 10 minutes anymore depending which way it goes. They could take -50 minutes or an hour. I think...

Seriously? The rest of the world (with notable exceptions) uses daylight savings time. Do we really need to make a change? It becomes way more of an inconvenience than the minute it takes to change clocks twice a year.
And plus look at this map, just which time zone do we want to align with during the 6 months that we're not in sync with MST? Either way looks ridiculous. At least saskatchewan can exist somewhat in both. Alberta would stick out like a sore thumb.

It's hard enough to get people in Ontario to understand a 2 hour time difference year-round. Any benefit gained from this (pretty much nothing) would be offset by the confusion it would create in trying to get them to understand that it's a 3 hour difference for 8 months of the year, and a 2 hour difference for 4.
As long as a significant percentage of Albertans spend a significant percentage of their days doing business with people outside of Alberta, we should probably remain in sync with the other 98% of North America.
