A consortium of CalgaryPuck posters.
We take it in turns to act as sort of executive officer for the week, but all the decisions of that officer have to be ratified at a special bi-weekly meeting by a simple majority in the case of purely internal affairs but by a two thirds majority in the case of roster moves.

That sounds like the structure the Oilers had in the late 90s.

It'll be like the morning show on 960, just have someone pop in for a couple of weeks at a time.

I’d prefer someone who’s coached more than his kid’s team.

How would Guy Boucher to run the powerplay sound? Don't want him anywhere near the head coaching position, but he has a real good reputation when it comes to the powerplay.

I mean if I went around saying I was assistant coach just because some fiery Scorch had lobbed a hockey stick at me, they would put me away!

I’d love to have the Bond Villain on the bench.

If they want to bring in a guy Ward is familiar with then I wonder if it could be a guy like Doug Jarvis.
Has 20+ years of NHL coaching experience. Not coaching right now. Last worked in Vancouver as an assistant to but had spend 4 years together with Ward as a coach in Boston.

It’s just a guess on my part but it makes sense to me.
You have Ward in the head coach role for the first time, the rest of the assistants don’t have a ton of NHL experience, it only makes sense to bring in a guy that has a ton of NHL experience and who has worked with our new head coach in the past.
The other name would be Ulf Samuelsson, he was given his first real chance in the league by Maloney and Treliving in Arizona.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Just say no to Guy Boucher. He's one or two missteps away from being the head coach at that point. Why take that risk?

An associate is just a guy labeled as clearly the #2 guy, Ward for example was an associate coach. Playfair back in the day was an associate coach.... etc

I think this is a realistic option. I like the Oates suggestion, but think it is unlikely. I also wouldn't mind seeing Pittis get the call from the farm, before taking over the forwards and PP in Stockton he was also a skating coach.

I'm pretty sure Jarvis is a defense coach and PK guy, we'd be looking for a guy to work with the forwards and PP.

I dig the suggestions, but Samuelsson like Jarvis is a defense/PK guy and as I mentioned in my other post, we'd be seeking a guy to work with the PP and forwards.
