He won league Goaltender of the Month honours.
Goaltenders are weird. It's great to get excited about a goalie prospect that stands measurably above his peers and seeing that translate into even a NHL cup of coffee. But hey, seventh round underdogs sometimes win.

Can't believe we may have found ourselves a steal over height again.

Nice to see we have our great goalie hope for the future. We always seem to have one, and they never pan out. Ritiich was never supposed to be the guy as the others had all the hype.

The nice thing is, it looks like we might not need Wolf to pan out, so there's no pressure on him to develop.

Nope. He'll play one more season after this before he can be eligible for the AHL.

Y’all were this excited about Parsons. Let it play out before we anoint him anything more than a prospect potentially.

Most of the responses seem to acknowledge the fact that goalies are not a sure thing...

It's good to see though... I'm hoping it pans out for him, what a heart warming draft that was to see him and his family still waiting there. Just think... if he was just a few inches taller - he'd be gone in the 1st or 2nd round, and for us to pick him up where we did, there is no loss for us if he doesn't progress, but I have a feeling he will - there is something different about his dedication - everyone (most) players to get to this level are dedicated, but his seems different... Goalies are a different breed for sure though - so let's keep our fingers crossed.

Well I would say we do. Rittich is 27 so maybe another 5 to 6 uears of great play if he is consistent. Wolf would be 22/23 by that time so it would be best if he did pan out.

4th shutout of season for Dustin Wolf already. Better save percentage than last year. Lets hope he has a late growth spurt to get him up to 6 1 or 6 2 at least.
CHL leading, 0.939 save percentage so far in 18 games. This is quite remarkable when you consider Carter Hart's numbers with Everett were not even close to this.
0.939 SV% is leading all CHL goalies this year with at least 10 games played.
John Gibson had two year numbers around 0.921 during his two years in CHL. Although some individuals who never played in NHL at top of all time best season lists for save percentages amongst CHL leagues.

I will not get excited about a goalie prospect, I will not get excited about a goalie prospect...

At least over the past while, WHL save percentages have been miles better than the other leagues so best to avoid direct comparison of the stats.

Chance to see Dustin Wolf today at the Saddledome 4 pm. He has been waiting for this game all season.
5th shutout of season last night in Medicine Hat.
0.944 SV% now. Unreal!
Source: https://twitter.com/WHL_Analytics/st...19277738381312
"Dustin Wolf (EVT) still in a league of his own with a GSAA of 22.436 and GSAA/60 of 1.149."
Source: https://calgarysun.com/sports/hockey...hls-silvertips
“Dustin is so internally driven to be the very best,” said Silvertips skipper Dennis Williams. “I can’t even describe his practices … He is the hardest competitor in practice. He comes out every day to stop every puck. It’s ridiculous. And I’m talking highlight-reel saves in practice. You know, where a lot of guys might not give that extra push on a 2-on-0 drill or something like that, he wants to stop every puck. He really does.
In my three years with him, I haven’t seen a bad practice from him. He wants the net. He wants the pucks. He wants the challenge. He wants the best shooters to shoot on him. He wants the 5-on-0 against the No. 1 power-play unit, and it’s OK if they’re going back-door. He’s pushing to make that save."
“He was talking about how excited he is to come play here, no different than when he was excited to be here in camp,” Sigalet said. “He left a great impression then and I’m sure he’ll put his A game on the table (Sunday). I don’t think the nerves will get to him at all. It’s just another game to him, another chance to prove the type of goalie he is to our organization.”
