Tod Button talks about the '23 draftees
https://www.sportsnet.ca/960/flames-...3-draft-class/
re. Honzek
Flames were prepared to move up to get one of 2 guys, including Honzek
We got a lot of LW, but he could jump to the top of that group
Ceiling is so high.

more Conroy
https://www.nhl.com/flames/video/con...074/c-17822335
sounds like they debated Morin and Suniev with 2nd pick; then got both anyway
sounds like Phillips will test free agency to see what is available, but Conroy would like him back

My crack at a new top 10:
1. Wolf
2. Coronato
3. Honzek
4. Pelletier (not graduated)
5. Zary
6. Morin
7. Poirier
8. Suniev
9. Schwidt
10. Ronni
I’m saying Ruzicka and Duehr are graduated. MP not including as a pending UFA
swapped out Ronni for Kuznetzov in the #10 spot.

Conroy did not tip his hand on qualifying Pettersen, Jones or Pospisil. I'd guess Pospisil will not be back, the other two 50/50. I'd bet Chechelev and Poolman are done as well

A new GM/Coach can possibly help bring him back.

2. Coronato
3. Honzek
4. Poirier
5. Pelletier
6. Zary
7. Morin
8. Suniev
9. Schwindt
10. Solovyov (I really like his game as a pure defender. He's come a long way and seems close to getting a shot at the NHL).
HM: Kuznetsov, Ronni, Sergeev

Not just a "new" coach but a coach that he has played for previously.
Either Huska knows what he can do at the nhl level and wants to try him or he knows and doesn't think it will happen.
Either way I hope we get a resolution to the whole thing.

With Coleman and Mangiapane able to swap wings Coronato, Dube and the new guy we got I just don't see a spot for Phillips on the main roster.

A lot of people seem to be penciling Coronato into the lineup next year, what is the basis for that?
I'd love to see it, they need what he brings, but I always thought it would be a few years for him.

Oh Flames. So predictable at the draft. Look at all of the good dependable Alberta farm boys selected, once again. Never change.

Poirier is much closer to making the team, but Morin is a way better player in his draft year than JP was in his.

He signed a contract after his second college season, and burned one of his ELC years. I think that is a clear indicator that the Flames project him to be on the roster this season.
