Sweet thanks Dino! Off the bat, ever made a digital marquee on the top portion of the (portrait) screen through Hyperspin? Hyperspin is who Carlos/ArcadeOne uses.

Current plan is to of course hide the bottom behind the control panel etc, then the 4:3 screen, but up top —- If possible digital marquee, otherwise it’ll be bezel’s.

Tell me about this 4:3 display. I am bugged to no end by arcade builds using modern widescreens as I really believe in the original 4:3 aspect ratio for arcades.

Super simple. Rotate to Portrait mode; Ctrl + Alt + Right arrow

Then, choose a 4:3 resolution in your Windows Screen Settings; ex.; 1024×768, 1600×1200

I prefer widescreen with bezels for older games in a 4:3 ratio. That way you can put newer games on there as well that can take advantage of the larger screen

Interesting. Which newer arcade games are you referring to? SF5? MK10?

Sorry, never made a digital marquee...you are really going all out

all my builds are converted original cabs so just have the lightup marquee, now you have me looking into it...hard part would be sourcing such a wide screen, probably pricey. Looks cool though.

Those, plus the new Streets of Rage, Battletoads, Double Dragon Neon, etc. If you're going for a full PC build instead of a pi then why not throw modern arcade titles into the mix?

Dino, the marquee is actually part of the same 65" TV. Hyperspin, will centre the game, and then allow a separate played Marquee on the same screen. https://www.reddit.com/r/cade/commen...e_dreamscreen/

Yep those should be included.

I'm of the opinion that 4:3 is the best resolution for the majority of the old games I love. Unfortunately, with some horizontal games (scrollers), they'll have aspects like 384x224 etc; I have read of builders having two machines; a vertical and a horizontal.

Aaaand, I am currently second guessing... haha (plugging in the ArcadeOne and measuring, this weekend)

I couldn't understand how you'd use a 65" screen until I saw the picture. I never would have thought of that that's pretty interesting!

Haha exactly, and it’s why I wanna figure out how to do the marquee, on same screen.

I just caught myself staring into this picture realizing after some time I was going back in my mind to all those hours I spent playing at the various arcades as a young kid.

Looking forward to see how this evolves.

Still want to do this one day too and put the PC I have running BigBox / Launchbox into an actual cabinet.

Yeah I was thinking of an old school cabinet, see what you mean now and how the game screen can also be used. They are making thin wide screens for original marquee replacements though, what a time to be alive

Just an IMO but don't worry too much about running the latest and greatest arcade hits...99% people will want to play old school games on it.

NBA Jam, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter 2, Bubble Bobble, and Wrestlefest are the top 5 played on my cabinet

I'm looking forward to seeing the results!

I built one 18 years ago. Its still going strong. This 65" monitor idea is interesting I may need to consider an upgrade. I had a Betson CRT monitor but it conked out years ago. Now use a widescreen monitor, the 4:3 is a much better idea.

If you need any pointers let me know. I've upgraded mine lots over the years, and am now considering installing an up/down spinner to replace the two way spinner. My Ipac4 is still going strong.

My controller is pretty close to this: https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...anel-116605237

Has dual rotary joysticks (2 joysticks per player, left one a rotary, right one a joystick with top shoot button), spinner, trackball, central top joystick is a 360 for games like sinistar. Have 2 guns too.

The most popular game when friends are over is easily Shuffleshot. Check it out. We usually play for a buck per player per game. Cheap and fun.

I've built 2 Game Room Solutions cabinets in the past 6 months. Pretty happy with them overall...certainly tend to turn into ongoing projects but it's been a nice thing to tinker with. I have a 32" 2-player and a 2": 4-player. Between the 2 I have had Aracade-One HypersSpin boxes, BigBox/Launch Box builds, Various PC based CoinOps builds and various Pi builds...they all have pros and cons for sure.

Have some Sinden guns on the 32" cab...those are great.

anyway, lots of fun and big hits with the kids and friends. Certainly a time sink though.

any questions, happy to help if I can.
