LaFontaine is already 24 years-old and was drafted by the Canes in 2016. He was in the middle of his 5th NCAA season (because of COVID, players were allowed to extend their eligibility by a year). He also left college for a year in 2018-19 to play in the BCHL and keep his NCAA eligibility.
He played for Minnesota last night in a 6-3 win over Michigan State, so it would seem like this was a very sudden decision on his part.

Believe I saw he had played every game for his college team. So they are really left in the lurch.

for Coronato, it was the 3rd game in a row that he played Center. The last two games before the WJC, and his first game back

It looks like TSN has picked up a bunch of NCAA games for streaming in January, including 5 Harvard and 2 MSU games: https://collegehockeyinc.com/article...in-january.php

Coronato is moving back to center tonight. With Farrell and Abruzzese off to join Team USA at the Olympics, Coronato should get a lot of prime ice time, and may actually get to be on the PP

This is a solid stat line for a freshman on a pretty deep team.

Coronato has 51 shots and 14 games to lead his team. That for me for a freshman is more important than even his point totals.

Coronato with a power move wide, drives the net and scores; may have been deflected in off the D-man
Harvard up 2-1
edit - Game boxscore says Coronato scored; Harvard twitter says Karpa. Either way, Coronato created the goal with outside speed and driving toward the net

Harvard (9-7-1) loses 2-0 to Rensselaer (11-14-3), so no points for Coronato.

Side note, to anyone travelling upstate new york for any strange reason, take some time to walk on the rensselaer campus overlooking the hills of troy/ hudson river. The EMPAC is along the hill and is a very architecturally awesome building, it is acoutically "perfect" and so quiet inside that you can hear the liquids coursing inside of your body.
Union college in nearby schenectedy is also an interesting place. It has a 16-sided building on it called the Nott Memorial that is worth a look.

The Harvard vs. Cornell game ends in a 2-2 tie (from what I can gather, the NCAA does 3-on-3 OT, followed by a 3-man SO). Coronato finishes with 1g, and 7 shots. 18gp/7g/8a/15pts,+4, 8 PIM.
Notre Dame beats Minny 3-2 in OT. No points,-2 for Boltmann. 26gp/1g/8a/9pts,+5, 22 PIM.
