It's a nice looking console and controller for sure but I just can't justify buying special editions hardware over 6 years into a console's lifespan, lol.

Been patiently waiting for Hollow Knight Silksong as well, taking for freaking ever.
It's one of those cases where I hope they take as long as they feel they need. Hollow Knight is so good. They have a high bar to reach and I don't want Silksong rushed out the door.
I've had some apprehension that a new game set in just the same world would lack the magic captured in the experience of BOTW, but the new mechanics featured in the game play video are surprising and should make it feel like a very fresh and unique game in the Zelda series.

Exactly, if you already have a switch and you buy one of these you are part of the problem IMO.
I love the Switch, it has fantastic games, but I really wish they would do a big update on the hardware. It wasn't even that great when it first released, and 6 years later, it's really showing it's age.
It's fine for all the 2D sprite games I love, but man, you can really feel the system's limitations when playing games like Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and 3, and most likely you'll feel it playing the new Zelda game. It's a shame, because the games are still epic, it just could be so much better if it had better hardware to work on.

Agreed. In terms of form factor, it's a brilliant design. And there are great games for casual and kid-friendly gaming. The internals of the hardware need a big update.

I couldn’t imagine paying for a new switch at this point in it’s lifecycle. I’m still going to play Tears of the Kingdom, but I wish it was coming with new hardware. The switch is a glorified cell phone with joysticks and buttons.

…everybody indirectly judging my Switch pre-order…

Haha no judgement from me. I went from the OG Switch, to the lite, and now to the OLED. I just barely play the thing anymore. I think TOTK might be the last thing I play on it.
