Saros is definitely a good comp but I like a comparison to Quick more. Quick and Wolf have crazy good lateral movement, Quick has amazing athleticism and Wolf has great footwork and both are great battlers.

If my math is correct, here are the scenarios:

On Saturday, the Heat are in Bakersfield. Their final percentage will be the following, if they...
  • Lose in Regulation: 0.713
  • Lose in OT/SO: 0.721
  • Win: 0.728

Chicago's final percentage will be the following based on all possible results:
  • 0-2-0 = 0.697
  • 0-1-1 = 0.704
  • 1-1-0 / 0-0-2 = 0.711
  • 1-0-1 = 0.717
  • 2-0-0 = 0.724

Chicago's final game is Saturday at 6:00pm CT and Stockton's final game is Saturday at 6:00pm PT. So, Chicago's final game will be almost over before Stockton's begins and the Heat will know what they need to do.
Is the weird number of games a Covid thing? I know the Pacific division has always played a lower amount of games than the other divisions, but at least they will all end up at 68 games. The other divisions have some teams playing 76 games and other teams playing 72. Was that planned?

The Pacific/Mountain time zone teams have played 68 games since the mass-move of all the California teams in 2015. The rest of the league has typically played 76, so I'm not sure why some teams only played 72 this season.

There doesn't seem to be any geographic reason for it. Utica (which is in upstate NY) played 72, but Syracuse and Rochester (also in upstate NY) played 76. Chicago and Milwaukee played 76, but Rockford (which is a short drive from both Chicago and Milwaukee) played 72.

With so many teams in the west now (10 in the Pacific and Mountain time zones next season when Seattle's affiliate in Palm Springs starts playing), it would be nice if they went back to every team playing the same number of games.

Also, Chicago won their game last night, so first overall will come down to the final games tomorrow. Stockton must at least match what Chicago does in their game in order to finish first overall.

Chicago Wolves win 3-2 over the Rockford Ice Dogs.

Now the Heat have to also win their game against the Bakersfield No-Goods.

1-0 Bakersfield at the end of the first.

Heat lose and drop to second overall.

Oh well, it only matters if they meet in the Conference Finals.

The AHL first round changed nothing in the Pacific, all the top seeds swept their series in 2 games. In the second round, the Heat will play Bakersfield and Ontario will play Colorado.

The Heat-Condors series will start on Tuesday in Stockton. It's a best-of-5 series.
  • Game 1 - Tue. May 10, 2022 - 6:30PM | BAK @ STK
  • Game 2 - Wed. May 11, 2022 - 6:30PM | BAK @ STK
  • Game 3 - Fri. May 13, 2022 - 7:00PM | STK @ BAK
  • Game 4 - Sun. May 15, 2022 - 5:00PM* | STK @ BAK
  • Game 5 - Tue. May 17, 2022 - 6:30PM* | BAK @ STK

In the regular season, Stockton won the first 5 match-ups with Bakersfield, but the Condors won 4 of the last 5.
