Bump! I'm also looking for rock chip and minor dent repair on an older car, and if anyone can do anything with peeling clear coat (I'm guessing, short of completely repainting, no...).

I remember a few years ago I had a 8-year old car I wanted to sell. One of the side panels scraped the walll in an underground parking and because of that it would hinder the sale.

The car was worth about 10K but I don't want to go through insurance or pay through the roof to get it fixed, so I went on Kijiji to find someone to do it for cheap.

I actually found someone who works in an autobody shop during the day and does autobody on the side at night. I remembered paying only a few hundered dollars (cash job only) while a shop quoted me 2K for the same fix.

You guys should try Kijiji if you are not too picky to save some money on fixing older cars.

Someone like this:

Good luck

Of course the quality won't be as good as having it done at the shop because the moonlighting guy won't have access to professional equipment at home. But it served my purpose of getting it to a presentable shape to sell.

What I try to say is that if your car is a bit older and you don't want to pay through the roof because it is not worth it, consider hiring someone who is a pro for his day job but moonlight on the side.

Found another one on Kijiji:

Disclaimer - I don't know these people and I don't remember who I used years ago. I just did a random search on Auto Body Repair on Kijiji and got the result.

Thanks.

I wonder if a guy could find an employee or owner of a shop that could use the shop while freelancing....
