While you are probably right, I will just note that this is the exact logic that resulted in the Panthers giving Marchessault away for nothing. At least we got something back.

Inconsistent as he was though, Ferland was one of the few guys we've got who could play with jam. Guess Hathaway is likely to be a regular at this point to fill that need.

To be fair to Ferly, he does have a great shot, so it's not out of line to think he could score 20 again. Although, Ales Kotalik and Anton Babchuk also had great shots...

There is more to hockey than scoring 21 goals.
If this website (https://leftwinglock.com/line-production/) is accurate and to be believed Johnny, Monahan and Ferland were the 4th best line in the NHL last year for goal production with 39. Johnny, Sean and Jagr had 4 goals. Johnny, Sean and Garnett or Bennett had 3. Johnny, Sean and Frolik or Brouwer had 2.

Between Hamilton and Hanifin, who is the faster/better puck moving defenceman?

I am becoming a bigger fan of this trade after each passing hour.

One thing I think was clear after this season is the core needed a shake up. From my posting history many know I was one of the people convinced Hamilton was the guy I thought was a problem and the piece we should move for a good return.

The Canes deal adds 2 players to the core that fit the age group of Monahan/Gaudreau/Tkachuk.

The Flames now have 2 top 6 picks from 2013, a top 4 pick in 2014, top 5 pick in 2015, and a top 6 pick in 2016. Those were the 4 drafts since the rebuild started.

Hamilton appears to have issues being traded twice by the time he is 25 despite his great numbers, size, skill etc. Ferland was not going to be a cheap deal next summer, and Fox was never going to be a Flame. So I am very excited to add 2 players to the core that we need. A solid top 4 Dman and a right shot centre wing is a solid return. I personally wanted an elite forward and feel this team needs another top 6 forward but I am happier with the future of this team than I was yesterday.

Bradley couldn't get it done with Fox, knew a year ago he wasn't going to sign yet stubbornly didn't move him for draft pick is telling about him as a GM. Trades Ferland largely because he didn't want to negotiate with Ferland after next season. Again telling about Bradley as a poor negotiator.
The return for Hamilton, Ferland & Fox was poor & is a much bigger win for CAR.
He is a terrible GM that has many fans fooled.

Is calling him Bradley supposed to be some kind of epic insult?

Treliving is a bad negotiator?

He signed Gaudreau using the Gio and under rule. How is that bad at negotiating? He's only bad when he goes for UFA's. When he has RFA's, he signs reasonable if not really good deals.

LOL!!

Apparently that means that all of Monahan, Gaudreau and Giordano are overpaid then?

Get bent trying to start something with me personally. Stick to the topic at hand can is that too hard for you to do. I posted that 2 years ago so don't make it seem like it was recent.
I can bash Treliving based on this trade all I want.
He has earned it.

#### it, I now love this trade. Fully on-board with it and looking forward to seeing both new players in the lineup. Getting two, young #5 overall picks in one trade is ridiculous.

I'm now super excited. This team is going to be fun!!

I agree with everything you said, except that he's a poor negotiator. Seems like it is the only aspect of the job excels at is negotiating contracts. I feel he's overmatched when he's making trades.

There have been several comments about how Dougie is already on his third team at age 25 (he just had a birthday last week). Have there been any other players (i.e. good players, not just middling prospects) that have done the same? Just curious how his situation might compare...

Then he should be relieved of his duties. It was blatantly obvious that this team was short on scoring last year and this trade actually sent two of our better scorers out of town. This team needed a proven scorer added to the lineup without removing g any scoring that already existed. Treliving failed to address the most pressing need on this roster and he pretty well just blew his wad in making this trade. Gone are the two best trade assets we had, and we are still left with the exact same scoring need. If this is all he’s going to do, he should be sacked and just save the team a season of frustration and mediocrity. If he can’t solve the biggest challenge facing the team, and he keeps burning through our best assets to do so, then he’s part of the problem.

Your posts are consistently over the top and provide me large amounts of humour.
Thanks for the laughs.

Looking forward to seeing these guys develop as Flames. Two really good players who have not yet reached their potential. Glad to hear they are pumped to be here and that Hanifin is already buddies with our core players. This trade has made the Flames better today and in the future.
