Ha! Always nice to negotiate with an organization whose balls are in a vice.

The fact the NHL cant use highlights containing their own employees has always been asinine and should never be allowed again moving forward.

Oh sweet summer child.

As a soccer fan, this is just how business is done in the rest of the world.

Of course its stupid. But you have to play the cards you're dealt.

This. In my books this is a black mark on the NHL and NHLPA, to even be in the talks about this right now.

You can bet your ass if it was two Americans being jailed for nothing Bettman wouldn't even think about it, then again it wouldn't be two Americans because China wouldn't dare.

I hope a deal is struck, so that a Boycott by the NHL will actually mean something.

True, plus that other little thing that just ruined 2 years of gatherings throughout the world.

I hope the IOC loses a lot of their leverage over this coming decade. Such a corrupt organization with a dwindling product that has nothing but history propping it up.

You could say the same about the NHL

That would be nice. Lets start with FIFA and work our way down!

Who cares about human rights abuses?

Think of the market that China has. 1.6 billion people. Turning even a fraction of those into hockey fans means big $$$

Not to mention China is pouring how much into their hockey program.

Seems like a no brainer for the NHL. South Korea is one thing, but China? That's another $tory...

But they added breakdancing this year!

Maybe I'm getting cranky as I age but I couldn't care less about the Olympics and agree with it being corrupt.

Corrupt Olympics organization in a country comitting ongoing genocide vs their own Uyghurs.

How about “no”?

China ain't cool, and as a human rights stand, I agree they should put it to them, but this is a league striving for growing the game. I know dollars will be everything from an exposure standpoint, so ultimately no matter what, the NHL will fall in line to get more exposure to the biggest country in the world. I don't know if that's right or wrong, because where do you draw the line in social stances vs. money, but personally I hope they would think of human rights first, along with agreements from the other leagues behind the scenes.

The NHL, the NHLPA and the IOC all in a room together at the same time.

Do they make ammunition clips with sufficient capacity to effectively dispense justice to this many people all at once?

Hey Gary, what do you have to say to the two Michaels who continue to rot in Chinese prisons on bogus charges while you make arrangements for your boys to hit the ice in Beijing and cash the cheques?

I for one am against the NHL or the NHLPA, Canada participating in the Olympics in China for obvious reasons. The fact that they are even discussing it is beyond disturbing to me and is a full blown embarrassment to the league and the Country. I hope the whole thing gets shut down. Holding an Olympics in a communist country in this day and age is beyond disgusting and should be a permanent black eye on the IOC and who ever participates.
