You could swap this sentence with many, many rich businessmen running energy and commodity companies.

You are. You're doing it right now.
Why do you care what they do? Maybe, if you're not a climate change denier and you actually care about future generations, you take it upon yourself to channel your energy into something that might actually have an effect?
Elect Leaders who will take action.
Elect Leaders who support renewable energy.

It's just a bizarre take man. Reads like "leave celebrities alone!"
Celebrities acting like doomsayers diminishes the message they preach about climate change. It's basically a FYGM to everyone else who does give a #### about climate change. That's why people care.

Why stop at just energy and commodity CEOs? Companies like Apple have a larger environmental footprint than Suncor.

Despite your imagination there isn't a fleet of private jets at the airport for the captains of industry from Calgary. Our CEO rides the bus to work, guys making a couple million a year aren't splurging on the gulfstream to the caymans to link up with a private yacht.

I think it's fine to call out celebrities for hypocritical polluting, as long the person doing the calling out is doing everything in their power to minimize their environmental footprint themselves.

So unless I put solar panels on my roof and drive a Tesla, I can't complain about hypocritical celebrities.
What odd gatekeeping this thread has turned into.

Us: We shouldn't do anything because 37 million Canadians make up such a small percentage it will have no impact. We need the entire world to get on board before we do anything.
Celebrity - Tries to get the entire world on board.
Also us: That one celebrity is contributing to climate change because of a private jet.

It's not "leave celebrities alone" it's...
Why don't we focus on real issues and the leaders, businesses, news outlets who aren't doing **** all about it.

Agreed. It's not at all unreasonable for people to expect their 'leaders' whether they be from political, business, or cultural faculties to practice what they preach before buying in themselves. You don't have to be a luddite who washes their hemp-based clothes in the river before calling these people out for what they really are and what they really are doing . . . image-crafting to feed their massive narcissism.

They are 100% globally powered by renewable energy. Working towards 100% of its suppliers at 100%.

This is the sentiment, imo.

You're going to wait until Leonardo DiCaprio abandons his private jet before you get solar panels on your roof? I wonder what Jason Kenney is going to do to jumpstart the masses sitting around waiting for the virtue signalling.
What an odd, odd take.

Why is that an odd take? If you're gonna get on your soap box and tell us the world is ending then jet set to a conference and use 1000x the energy as a normal person, well do I really need to explain what's wrong with that? Look at the thread title, responsibility we all have to assume it.

No, the decision to power my home will be based solely on reliability of power source and the cost of energy regardless of what Leo does or doesn't do. If that's solar then so be it. If not it won't be.

*World temperatures rising, CO2 levels rising*
Change doesn't start without Tom Cruise and Katy Perry changing first!

The actual report:

Here's Suncor's report...going to laugh at that one too?
