Lindholm's rookie season was, like, five years ago dude. He's proven himself as a capable top-six forward in Carolina, and has only built upon that thus far in Calgary.
Jankowski has never been consistently slotted into the top-six, and there's a reason for that -- he's streaky and the opportunity hasn't presented itself for a long-term assignment on the basis of injury.

Well dude....that really has no bearing on why Janko has been given only 1 game on the top line. I really don’t know if Lindholm played top 6 minutes in his rookie year but I am betting he did and with better linemates than Bennett and Hathaway.
Bennett has been given every opportunity to work his way up the line up...Janko showed that he could rise to the occasion is a small sample size. To me that would warrant another opportunity. He did not play higher than the 3rd line in pre-season while rookie prospects were bumped up the line up.

Maybe he will get some time on the top line this season, and while I thought he was a lot better on Saturday night Jankowski has just not been anywhere near good enough this early in the season to warrant an assignment with Monahan and Gaudreau.

Gaudreau-Monahan-Lindholm
Bennett-Backlund-Neal
Tkachuk-Ryan-Czarnik
Dube-Jankowski-Frolik
Each line has a mix of size, skill, speed and defensive awareness.
Backlund with Bennett/Neal looked good last game. Tkachuk and Ryan have both shown chemistry with Czarnik at times. Jankowski and Dube benefit from Frolik's experience and defensive awareness.

Janko by no means is blameless in this odyssey. He needs to play with size and grit. I am just saying that he had 1 game on the top line all last year and he hit it out of the park. Other players like Bennett, Shore, Lazar, and Stewart were given longer auditions with limited results.
In summary, since he scored his 4 goals in the regular season last year he has been stapled to the 3 rd and 4 th line in the pre season and 4th line minutes averaging 8 minutes per game to eventually a healthy scratch. I am just saying the math does not add up.

Of course it does. Context is especially key here. Yes, Jankowski had a four-goal game, and I believe he still has untapped offensive potential. But that game was a glorified exhibition tilt against a team that had punched their ticket to the playoffs and were trying their damndest to avoid breaking a nail. good for Jankowski, but his preseason and the first two games were not great—and NOT because of the quality of his line mates. Look at what Bennett has done: he has willed himself off of the fourth line and was easily the most important player in the Colorado win. Jankowski needs to do what Bennett was doing in the Nashville and the St Louis game to get a promotion.
I also think Peters's treatment of Jankowski has to do with higher expectations he has for him as a player in the long run. It's a long season and there will be a lot of movement up and down the lineup with injuries and week-by-week performances. I trust that if Jankowski continues to improve on his game on Saturday—which I thought was really good—he will get opportunities, but I do not think it is a great idea just to hand them to him.

If both Monahan and Backlund miss a game, what an opportunity that will be for either Czarnik, Jankowski, Bennett or Dube to fill in on one of those lines.

This is a major gear grinder lately on here.
People throw troll around all the time, and it almost always is in the context of a small mind that doesn’t like someone disagreeing with them.
It’s like all my left over anti Gulutzan rage is now directed at the complete over use of calling people trolls.
Apologies for going off topic.

This is why it's great to finally have depth and a coach willing to let our younger players play and earn something.
Jankowski will learn pretty quick its all up to him if he wants in the lineup to stay.

I’m confused......are you actually asking why a player who has proven to be top 6 forward is considered a top 6 forward by fans on this board, and why a player who is still proving he’s an NHL regular isn’t being considered a top 6 forward by fans on this board yet?
