The brand is Snow Joe and is the same one that I have (albeit mine is cordless). The reviews online seem generally okay -- for example, here is the 18" model: https://www.amazon.ca/Snow-Joe-SJ618...#2#F684286ADMR

As discussed above, with the wet, heavy snow in October it kept getting clogged in the chute. However, on colder days where the snow is light and powdery (i.e. in December to January), it did a good job of throwing it... even the thicker stuff.

How do you find the power/lifespan of the cordless?

I've only used it a half dozen times over the past 3 winters (we moved and it was in storage) and haven't had any issues. Enough juice to do our front sidewalk and the neighbors if need be.

We did buy it on end of year clearance though so I'm not sure if the extra $ would be worth it compared to a corded model or gas.

My concern with it is I have a massive driveway, 65 feet of front walk, the back walk and a deck. I wasn't sure the battery would last in -20 to get all that. And I'm cheap so didn't want to have to spend $150 or whatever on a second battery.

Didnt you just build a brand new garage? What? Didnt you heat it?

Well ya, my garage will be heated eventually, but I don't plan on that heat extending to the driveway and sidewalk...-20 tends to cool stuff off pretty quickly when you get out into it, and the battery holder doesn't look insulated.

Thanks for that- I've ordered one.

Do you have a link for the cord that you ordered off Amazon? Mostly so that I make sure to get the right end on the part that plugs into the snowblower.

If you get one elsewhere make sure it's rated for 15A and outdoor. This was the best deal I could find though. Wish they had 75 footers though.

The Snow Joe did well with this light snow, no struggling really. It probably took about 3/4 as long as shoveling, with about 30% the effort, so I'd say it is a win.

Curious for those of you with snowblowers - what's the threshold for using the snowblower vs just shovelling vs sweeping?

For me it’s about three inches, maybe less if it’s heavy snow. The sidewalk usually isn’t a problem but I have a 3 car driveway to clear that’s a total pain.

I'm a redneck, I just fire up the air compressor and blow all the snow away.

Alright I am going to cave after this snow storm, I understand it is a horrible time to buy one right now but am just curious what people can recommend for prairie snow on a fairly large driveway?

Seems like two stage 24-28 inches has been the standard around here.

I have a Cub Cadet and when it runs the vibration moves the speed dial off of the highest speed and the machine struggles with lots of snow.

Any advice?

Anyone recommend a good small engine repair place? My blower won't start and I can't be arsed to fix it now. It was a hand me down, but it's a great unit so I want a pro to look at it in case it needs something I missed.

I think it needs a new carb.

Although I just wonder how it compares to the below Toro that is going to be much cheaper if I end up going the "super compact single stage" route. Obviously Honda is a level above, but features/power will be similar I imagine

I have this one. Got it with Aeroplan miles about 5 years ago. It works well for what I need.
