Something which was completely unexpected by everyone, including Montreal.

He's certainly not dominating, but he's part of this new depth story that we've seen play out early this season.
If you didn't have Czarnik and Ryan and Jankowski you wouldn't feel as comfortable promoting Bennett and bumping down Lindholm because he'd have no one to play with.
And having this second tier creates a handful of guys that could have big games though they're not specifically counted on to carry games.

...and what if we hadn’t bought out Brouwer because there would have been a roster spot for him?
The horror.
The horror.

Czarnik has a long way to go before he can reach Byron. At least a few hundred more goalless breakaways.

I think people tend to forget that he is essentially a rookie. I know Im guilty of it.
I kind of see him as a bonafide top 9. Which he is. But he's also a rookie.
Hes only going to get better.

Knock the shot out of Byron all u want but nobody on our current roster hit like Byron.
Czarnik is good and skilled but he’s no hitter like Paul was. That’s what I miss for a small guy who had speed and hit like a Mack truck and was loved by his teammates.
Proud he’s doing better hitting the scoresheet .....I will always miss Byron and what he brought over some of the talentless , heartless plugs we’ve had here in the last few years like Bouma, Hathaway, Chiasson, Freddy F’ing Hamilton WAFJ.

I think he was like a shorter, faster Joe Colborne.

100% agree.
And having this depth of second tier players really gives our team a fighting chance against the behemoth lines in the NHL.
For example, 3 or 4 years ago I would be terrified to have our 3rd line matched up against a line like Guentzel - Crosby - Hornqivst or Sheary - Malkin - Kessel.
Today I could sit back and not freak out if Peters put out a line like Bennett - Jankowski - Czarnik or Janko - Ryan - Neal out against those guys.
We have depth, and it's really good depth players like Czarnik who I think will be game breakers for this team.

I see Czarnik as a potential game breaker as well. He is being given a great chance to become an impact forward on this squad. Maybe even more of an opportunity than Sam Bennett, in time, we'll see. It appears Austin will certainly be given more opportunity than Byron was ever afforded.
