You know, the Carolina Hurricanes could have used a guy like Elias Lindholm. He could have tied the game against Winnipeg today.

Anaheim is dead last in the NHL for ES CF% at 38.5. Riding a 106.1 PDO. They will fall apart soon.

I feel like we say that at the beginning of every season, yet they keep plugging along near the top of the division. Nice to have some advanced stats to support it this time though.

Their goaltending masks a lot of that and they will go as far as Gibson can take them.

Ducks are making the playoffs unless Gibson gets injured. That team just doesn't go away.

Usually it's the other way around - they start really slowly and we say "what happened?".

The sample size is small but if the Ducks made the playoffs with anything close to their current underlying numbers, it would be unprecedented in this league.
That's not to say they can't improve things, and teams obviously tend to drift towards the mean as the season goes on, but right now they are a bad hockey team.

We keep saying year after year that the Ducks are due to take a step back, and yet they continue to make the playoffs. It is going to happen sooner than later, and I think they really could be on the brink this season.

Oh I agree but they always find a way, and if they are in the hunt just before trade deadline they will most likely add and get Perry back.

I think the Ducks will start slowing down soon, but you have to think about it in the pacific division. The Ducks vs the Pacific Division, they probably put up a fight against everyone.

They often found a way because their cap situation was incredibly good. This year is a bit different. And man, are they old up front (but on the other hand, at a good window in goal and on D).
What's amazing is winning this way without their best player.

Well, yeah. But there are four teams that will be able to at least meet if not exceed Anaheim's competitiveness within the Division.

That was an impressive game between the Sharks and Devils. No way are the Devils of old with the neutral zone trap. Palmieri with 2 goals and Hall with 2 assists. Both goalies played very well making excellent saves. Jones and Kinkaid made faced 75 shots, Sharks had 39 to the Devils 36.
The Hurricanes and Jets, former div rivals, put on a great show. It was 0-0 heading into the 3rd period and it was not a defensive battle. The goalies were the show, especially Brossoit in the Jets net as he faced 43 shots. Little scored the GWG late in reg time as Carolina loses its first game of the season.
It was Miller time for the Ducks as he gets his first win in net for the Ducks this season. The Ducks were down 2-1 heading into the 3rd period and came back to win it on Cogliano's PPG with just over 5 minutes left in reg time. These Ducks have grit.

Joe Pavelski became only the 5th player ever to get 700 pts in the NHL, who was drafted 200th overall or later.
Joining the likes of Zetterberg, Dimitra, and Steve Sullivan.
