This is what I'd like to see them try.
13 - 23 - 19
93 - 28 - 18
29 - 11 - 27
10 - 77 - 21

That's common knowledge. They don't have cap space for him for what he deserved, which is probably in the $4M AAV range.

I’d add a 4th category “smart”.
So basically they ideally need to play with a good RH hockey player.

I'm saying that in my head that for 1RW: Lindholm > Bennett > Neal
So, even if say Bennett slots into 2-RW...
Johnny-Monahan-Lindholm
Chuckie-Backlund-Bennett
Frolik-Dube-Neal
Czarnik-Janko-Ryan

Fox wasn't going to sign anywhere.
The only known commodity at the time of the trade was the best player in the deal going to Carolina for three years at a decent price. That's not fleecing in my view.

I bet Treliving had a pretty good idea what he was going to be able to get both signed for when he made the move. He has a pretty good handle on RFA negotiations.

We agree. Hamilton was the only known commodity.

To us. We have no idea what insight management had into their contract scenarios, but it's almost certainly much more detailed than any of us.

Is it? The Flames would have had no problem fitting him in. The problem was they likely didn’t think he’d be the right solution for this club at the price point he’d command. He was moved because it was believed he could be replaced with better and could generate more for us via trade than he’d be worth signing long term. He wasn’t moved due to a lack of cap or desire to sign, or at the very least those things if true are far from common knowledge, in fact they are the exact opposite of common knowledge.

Rotate your 4th line, Frolik on LW because he is a L shot, then Dube and Ryan can split draws depending on which side of the ice the face-off is on.
