I took the toilet seat comment as a shot regarding how hard they don't play. If the toilet seat is down, he's suggesting that they're playing like girls. Am I wrong?

There is no "Up" when it comes to Edmonton being No Good.
If Holland said "it's been up and down like a light switch really" nobody would think twice but he used the word toilet so yay?
I've made thoughts on that name known, I won't harp on it anymore.

Not to belabour this, but I’d say that’s exactly the point: his immediate instinct was to compare his team’s season to a toilet lid, out of all possible references applicable to an “up and down” season.
Only against the backdrop of scenic (sceptic?) Edmonton could someone conjure up such a comparison so quickly.
