2018-2019 Stats so far:
In 11 games: 6 goals + 4 assists = 10 points, 31 hits, 1-0-0 fight record.
Ferland continues to be one of my favourite players, I'm thrilled he's having immediate success on Carolina's top line. It'll be interesting to see how his season continues to go and what it leads to as a pending UFA. He should cash in big time! Interestingly Ferland and Lindholm are the 2 most impactful players in the trade to date.
I had this ready last week, but waited for a Flames win to post it because my videos for ex-Flames are often met with derision to begin with... if I post one when the Flames are losing the comment sections will get ugly quick.
If For could find consistency and stay healthy, he *could* become the preeminent power forward in the NHL...
He only missed 5 games last year, 6 the year before and 11 the year before that.
He's easily a 20+ goal scorer and can throw down with some of the toughest guys in the league.
Micheal Ferland is one of the league's best power forwards. He's better than Simmonds now. He's certainly better than Lucic. Heck, he's better than James Neal too.

Since when is James Neal a power forward? Also, Ferland has yet to throw down with any of the "toughest guys in the league" and given his concussion history, it's not something I've advise.

Also, guys like Ferland have a shelf life, due to the brand off hockey they play. He's almost 27, how much longer can he play like he is, another 3 years or so? Once he loses the speed and physicality, there isn't much to his game

I really like the kid. I've worried that he's going to do permanent damage because of the perceived need for him to fight (it was a constant refrain here, and one of the big laments after Gaudreau got hit a while back).
Other than Iginla, I can't remember any other recent former Flame that I've rooted for but Ferland is a guy I also hopes finds success. Maybe it's the underdog story but he's overcome a lot to stay clean and have success and I hope it continues on the up and up for him.
Never denied the skill. The inconsistency drove me bananas. And while he is a good player I've always found he lacked the intangibles that Lindholm has. Namely Versatility and Lindholm has superior on ice awareness.. If he wasn't on the top line he was nothing in Calgary but a Hathaway type.
Always respected him for turning his life around off the ice. I think that bar fight in Cochrane scared sense into him .
End of the day, glad he doing well with another teams top line and we are happy with what we have in Lindholm. Truly is a win win trade IMO.
Not going to bother making a new thread because I can safely predict how it would go.
Finished this at the request of some fans that still wanted to see it. More than anything it's interesting to compare how Dougie and Gio looked last year, to how they each look individually this season.
