Unexpected from the NHL but fair ruling. He deserves it.

Wow.

I get they have to send a message...but I actually didn't think that hit was that bad.

Guess when you get three suspensions for pretty much the same thing in a short period of time they are going to lay down the law.

Wow! That's way more than expected, good on the NHL, but I imagine that will get appealed and have some games knocked off of it.

Holy cow. Between all the “right decisions” the Flames have made this off season and this decision by the NHL to kick off the new season, I’m starting to feel a little spoiled.

Also... love delaying the hearing until opening day and then smacking all the players right across the face with it to hammer the message home.

NHLNumbers @NHLnumbers
He’ll forfeit $1,260,162 in salary for this suspension.

Video also says that being suspended 4 times in a 105 game period is unprecedented.

repeat offender plays a role too.

the guy can play without all the garbage stuff he does... if he was trying to get 'pay back' from the game before, there are certainly other ways of doing it... those hits can end a kid's career.

NHL is sending a message, esp to those players that can't seem to get it through their thick skulls that cheapshots targeting the head are no longer part of the game

And that's why this is so long. We saw this with Raffi Torres and Chris Simon too. When your disciplinary history is as long as your arm, the league will throw the book at you.
