Valeri Nichushkin, right now, is everything you want Joe Colborne to be.
He is 20 years old. Younger than Monahan.

Jagr said he believes Nichushkin will be the best player in the league one day.

Hearing there's some back and forth between Leafs and Islanders on P.A. Parenteau

I might get crucified here, but I would throw my hat into the Yakupov ring if I was Treliving. Even if there's only a 30% chance he figures it out, I think it would be worth that 2nd we just acquired. I think Gaudreau could turn him into a 25+ goal scorer.

If Treliving can pull off a Nichushkin trade somehow, I'd be ecstatic.

Still think people are dreaming if they think Russell is going to land Nichushkin.
I really can't see the Stars giving up on him this early, especially with how well he has been playing as of late.

Agree.
The only problem is that you would have to assume that the last place they would send a guy like that (low price with a chance of being a good player) would be to their rivals.
But if he's going cheap, I would be all for it.
Imagine this:
Laine or Pullyergoalie (draft)
Nichushkin (trade)
Yakupov (trade)
Poirier
suddenly our RW prospect list would be the envy of the league

Besides Valeri Nichushkin & Brett Ritchie, the Stars have a few more interesting young wingers...
Cole Ully LW
Denis Guryanov RW
Jason Dickinson C/LW
Brett Pollock LW/C

StrykerSteve suggested in another thread that Poirier + 2nd could be the piece that might land us Nichushkin for Russell. Which makes a lot of sense, actually.
I hope Treliving does not touch Yakupov with a 10'-pole. Did not show to be a reliable or consistent player for his draft pick rank.

I want to see him on a team that's not a total circus act before I write him off completely. He's trending to be about as bad as Stefan but there is still time for him to salvage some kind of career. He was only drafted 4 years ago.

It is looking more and more like Hamhuis won't waive his NTC.
Canucks aren't even bothering to hold him out of tonight's game.

With the sky high prices being quoted for defensemen, I wish a few more of the Flames Dmen were showing up in rumors. I would love to see Smid, Wideman, Engelland or Nakladal moved if the prices are right.

The reason he hasn't lived up to these loft expectations are injuries and surgeries have really set him back in his NHL career thus far.
Whether he can get back on track is the big question.

Thanks sureLoss! Well then...so even if it were a possibility of landing him, it's a gamble to see how he continues to adjust. Might be worth it if Dallas thinks it's worth it. Young right winger with promise is what we need.

I've heard a bit of variation on this but sense NJ D David Schlemko can be had for one mid-round pick.
