Medvedev went on to win the Japan Open beating Nishikori in the final 6-2 6-4. He didn't drop a set in the entire tournament.

By the way three Canadians are in the main draw at the Shanghai Masters as Vasek qualified for the main draw joining Milos and Denis. Milos is first up early Monday morning as he faces Mackenzie McDonald.

No Canadians remaining in the Shanghai Masters draw as both Vasek and Denis lost in straight sets overnight. Reports are that Denis looks tired and it makes sense as he has been playing a lot of tennis of late.

No rest for Felix as he quickly traveled to Antwerp to attempt to qualify for the European Open (ATP 250 event). Felix won his first qualification match over a young Belgian wild card 5-7 6-3 7-6.

It's a nice set up at the Alberta Tennis Centre for the Calgary Challenger. I spent a bit of time there today, and the atmosphere is excellent. However, parking is a bit of an issue. Keep it in mind if you're heading down this week.
