Trade talks are heating up in San Jose with a couple of interesting names being thrown around. Sharks GM MJK has maintained he is happy with how the team is shaping up but if history tells us anything, the entire roster can change in an instant.

The Sharks spent the majority of the 2017-18 season in the CPHL basement after GM MJK handed off coaching duties to GM Hanna Sniper who single handedly drove the team into the ground. GM MJK eventually came back to turn the team around just in time to snag a playoff spot. The grit and determination of the Sharks team last year is not something that GM MJK forgets.

The current Sharks team still looks very similar to the 2017-18 team minus a couple of players lost to free agency but with the addition of a couple key pieces.
Drew Doughty
- was acquired using a 2018 1st round pick
Michael Backlund
- Was acquired by trading depth dman Jake McCabe and a scrub
Justin Abdelkader
- Was acquired trading depth dman Mark Pysyk
The Sharks traded from their strength at D to help bolster the forward group, but there is still work to be done.
As trade talks heat up, could we see an overhaul to the roster? Does that make sense? What kind of message would that send to the Sharks core? Does Crosby have it in him to lead this team deep into the playoffs?

The answers to these questions will be answered in the next couple of weeks as we work our way through free agency and as trade talks continue to heat up and rosters around the CPHL start taking shape.
Bottom line: There is still work to be done and a lot of options to explore.
