Renewed passenger rail service between Banff and Calgary?
Cool potential for renewed passenger rail service between Calgary and Banff.
I personally really like this idea and it seems the target of $15 wouldn't be too bad at all.
These are the types of projects I hope the governments strongly consider.

That would be awesome, I'd use it multiple times a year.

$600 million which is for track only.
Is there a spot in downtown that could be used for a station?

First you need to drastically improve the Banff transportation once you get there. A train to downtown Banff is pretty useless.

Wasn’t there a direct to Banff bus service that was launched recently but failed due to low ridership?

There’s a station at Palliser Square. It’s not very nice, but it exists.

OnIt, I think it is, and as far as I know it's still going.

There is On-It which started last year. It's on weekends only and during the summer. It's back again this summer ($10 each way). I took it a couple times last summer. The buses were fairly full when I took it. They have changed the schedule and pick-up points a bit this year.

I might be interested if it were a thing where I could walk on with my ski bag after work on a Friday, sit down, and be at the Lake Louise railway station ~2.5 hours later. That might be worth it.

How do you anticipate getting to Lake Louise when the proposal terminates at Banff?

Really? Banff has a good bus system for the town, and ROAM to Canmore. In the winter buses run to Sunshine and Lake Louise every 30 minutes(I think) for free. I think in the summer the run to Minewanka as well. You don't think if there was a train Brewster wouldn't be all over servicing it?
Current bus routes:

Transit has improved drastically in the past 10 years.

Recouping $600 million at $15 a pop, it is 40 million riders. That's not counting operation costs. It's not feasible at all.

You can't get anywhere to do anything in the summer. Johnson Canyon, Lake Louise, Ice fields. If you are just putting people on a Brewster bus at this point why not just bus them out from the airport. Rail does not make sense here when the attractions require additional transportation to get to.

He responded to your comment about Banff. You have now expanded Banff to include the entire Bow Valley. Is that what you meant originally?
