Two episodes into the Great (Amazon Prime), I'm really digging it. Nicholas Hoult as Peter III of Russia is the sort of character that you just want someone to kill (and nearly everyone has reason to), and yet you know you'd enjoy it far less if they were gone. It's twisted and absurd and the dialogue is totally anachronistic, but highly entertaining.
Just found this show.
Created by Tony McNamara, who wrote The Favourite, which is very similar:
Looks like the Amazon Prime US remake of the awesome BBC show Utopia is out now. From the same writer as Gone Girl and Sharp Objects.
The British version is so weird and great, hopefully the US is good as well but I suspect they try to change the quirkiness and overall feel/style quiet a bit as evidenced by their respective trailers:
I'd rather it not try and recreate the original anyways, because what's the point then? May as well have a different take.
Another year, another zero wins for Better Call Saul. I'm hoping they do a "final season let's give it all the Emmy's now for it's whole run" thing after season 6.

For those of you with Hulu, I cannot recommend Prisoners of War enough.
It’s the Israeli show that Homeland was (loosely) based on. It’s only two seasons, but was absolutely enthralling and captivating. I don’t think I’ve cared about characters as much as I did in this show.
I'm glad they all won Emmys, but in my opinion, Daniel Levy and Annie Murphy were the lead actors, and Eugene and Catherine were supporting.
What a revelation Annie Murphy has been. An immense talent that almost gave up on acting. Her impression of Moira here is so amazing, right down to the accent.

I saw the trailer and it looked interesting.
Then I watched the first episode. Awful. It’s like they were advertising a different show. I have no idea what they were going for but it isn’t black comedy like the original supposedly is. And whatever it was, it sucks.

I wouldn't say the original is a black comedy either. The US remake probably went for more comedy than the BBC original, but doing a remake of anything is almost always a recipe for failure.
Definitely watch Friday Night Lights! Great show. Very underrated
Thanks for this recommendation. I have been enjoying the hell out of this show even though the 2nd season was a little uneven (murder storyline, come on).
It is beautifully shot and very well acted. Some of the young actors, who aren’t so young anymore, are very well cast and very capable actors.
Sure it can get a little corny, and it’s good for a case of the sniffles every episode or two, but it is very good television IMO.

I watched The Comey Rule tonight, which is a two part series that takes you through James Comey first being appointed to the FBI Director role under Obama all the way to him testifying at the Senate committee hearings around Russian interference in the 2016 election.
I quite enjoyed it and I imagine other US political junkies would as well! Jeff Daniels did a great job portraying Comey and some solid casting by the show as many of the actors resembled the people they played (Bannon and Kushner in particular).

How did you find Gleeson as Trump? I'm working my way towards watching this series soon.

To be honest, didn't like his portrayal. He got the speech patterns down but I felt he imitated the exaggerated version of Trump which made it a bit distracting.

Ugh I should not have started watching Sons of Anarchy. I'm tired of it, but I'm in too deep to stop now. To be fair, some of you warned me. All of the twists remind me more of a soap opera than a biker show.

It's definitely more of a soap than anything else...all the bikers I know get triggered if you bring it up though.
