It's not that, it's just that I don't actually think that Alberta is full of a bunch of backwards hicks. I'm not sure that continually pushing that narrative out on social media (for example) is a good thing for the province as a whole.

I agree, our government should stop pushing #### out into the public sphere that makes us all look like backwards hicks. That is not good for Alberta or Albertans.

But we are, doesn't take an outsider to realize that. That idea is there for a reason. Maybe not as prevalent in your circle, or people are really good at hiding it, but based on how I am continually surprised what people spew from their mouths these days, there's a fair bit still like that. Sure they may wear a suit, but deep down they are as backwards as ever.

You can disagree with Kenney's policy but he was going to play by the rules of the game. Danielle Smith wants to unilaterally rewrite the rules.
I didn't say there wasn't a difference between the two, of course one is not the other. I am saying however that he really fueled the fire into making these ideas acceptable, resulting in possibly even having Danielle as our leader. I also found it comical how he says all these anti-federal/Canada actions will be determinantal to Alberta in terms of attracting (or even keeping) people and investments, but he certainly did his fair share in that category.

If you want other provinces to stop thinking Alberta is full of backwards hicks, stop voting for the party full of backwards hicks.

Is anyone else choking on the irony of this being kicked off/voiced by a guy who is 100% going to move back to Ontario in a few months?

I wouldn't put it past Kenney to write up an invoice for 'voice acting'.

Personally featuring the outgoing, already resigned premier is baffling...the simple reason could be re-launching his personal brand back into federal politics.

There are so many awesome people in Alberta of various political stripes, but successive Alberta administrations have decided that their perceived provincial problems are generational and chronically ignored, even though Alberta has rose to become of the best places in the country - no, world - to live a healthy, wealthy, peaceful life.

Then in the last 10 years, as society progressed on modern issues, the gaps that remained in the conservative roots in the province continue to expose themselves as being unable to move forward. I mean, a generation ago would that essay contest be such a hot topic issue in Alberta? Probably not, but in 2022 that sort of stuff gets chuffed. Jason Kenney can't just wave it away as a "slow news week". that #### gets called out.

Heck, listen to Allison Redford's latest podcast appearance. She described an atmosphere as anti-feminist, racist, and homophobic. And her term was just under 10 years ago.

It also doesn't help that extreme fringes and their ridiculous political ideas are getting mainstream attention, multiple platforms to shout nonsense, and pom-pom waving politicians trying to play both sides to do all the cringy fringy things.

But just based on the little you quoted it seems fine by me, heck even potentially something the UCP now has done that is good.

….
Hears promo with Jason voice over

Of course the UCP F’d this up after I said they potentially actually did something good.

What the hell is with using Kenny as the voice?

This call was apparently left by a Danielle Smith campaign worker. It's wild. Check out the other Tweets this user has also recorded and shared. Straight up harassment.

This story led me to this article about fake profiles allegedly being used by politicians. Hilarious

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calga...tics-1.4128312

There is also a bit of a connection here.

JD is who is being referred to here as he is close to the family

So Smith, Loewen and Jean walked into a forum tonight to discuss Alberta.

Crazy things were said.

Smith leading in the polls.

Ya'll need a miracle.
